20" Spare Tire

Does anyone know where I can get a 20” steel wheel to use as a spare? I just got a screw in my tire (posted in tire & wheel section) and I need a new tire. I would like to use the old as a spare. My original spare is a 16” rim and when I went to the 275/55/20, I used an extra stock wheel (32” tire diam.) from our Expedition.

so what exactly are you looking for? a 20" spare steel wheel? or a 20" HD rim? or just another spare rim?
i'm not sure i'm reading your message right

i don't know of anybody that makes 20" steel spares though, kinda not worth the price of a 20" tire as a spare

I don't think you can get a 20" steel wheel. Not sure I'd want to shell out the dough for a HD wheel to put under the truck where noone sees it and for it to get all the road dirt.

Just my opinion though.

You could get a 20" replica for pretty cheap. I've seen some on ebay for around $400 which isn't bad compared to the $1k from Ford. But...I say spend the extra dough on something else like mods mods mods!!!!

Believe it or not!

Dodge puts 20 inch spares under there new trucks that come equipped with 20's. They are black steel though. I know this does you guys no good, just some food for thought.

yeah , i thought i heard that before, but it wouldnt' do him any good anyway cuz the different bolt patterns.

talk about a waste of money though for designing them up and the more expensive price of a tire must be dodge logic

Hey 356....

Dodge logic makes sense. I got a full size spare stock replacement with my 98 Dakota R/T even when it was used. It was kind of nice knowing if I threw a tire I had a full size stock replacement. No driving on a donut or some other crappy looking tire until I paid to get the other one fixed/replaced.

Hmmmm....Ford Logic, "lets have the MSRP be $3X,XXX on our newest greatest HD F-150, but only give them a $.50 spare on a rim that does not match.

Good thinking FoMoC.

Musta been n' crack.

our trucks have a full size spare. its a 16" rim with a bigger tire though, so the overall diameter is the same. its no donut or anything
Personally, i'd think it would be stupid for ford to put a one thousand dollar rim under the truck, just incase you got a flat, your rims would still match. Just another thing for people to steal, and 10 to 1, that rim would be so filty it wouldn't match anyway. LOL. I'd much rather see ford spend (aka charge) that extra money for higher quality leather, painted on pinstripes, rather than stickers, or other more improtant stuff like that. And isnt' the spare on the dodge trucks just a steel 20" and not a matching 20 anyway? Big deal if my spare has more sidewall and 4" less of rim. Its silver anyway and steel. Ya gotta get that other tire fixed sometime or another.
just the way i see things

and look, i even have pics of hte spare cuz i washed and polished it this summer. LoL

Front of spare

back of spare

I agree, who cares about the dang spare. If you are lucky, you'll never remove it from the truck. And, if I'm not lucky, I will put it on and drive the truck straight to the tire dealer anyway and get the original fixed. It's not like I'm going to run the thing for more than a couple of days. Doesn't look any worse with the odd wheel and tire than it does dirty........

yup, and do you see the grooves in the tire from that pic? the way the tire gets mounted, is the front of the rim faces the bottom of the bed, so you can't even clean it without removing the rim every time. it would get to be a bit PITA, especially with chrome. and the groove that it would put in the tire from the frame and the vibrations, not to mention, with the low profile tire, the spare tire frame would probably be rubbing on the rim and wearing the chrome off

if anybody is actualy as crazy as me and have taken the spare off after only a year of driving the truck (10Kmiles) and cleaned it, you'll know how dirty and discusting that thing gets!
