Someone always trying to race!

It never fails. Almost everytime when I am driving late at night, someone always tries to race me. What's the deal? Do they just want to see how the truck runs or what?

It is usually young kids in normal cars. I never start the race, but I always finish it.

My 2002's motor is stock, but I have only been beat once. It was by a newer Camaro SS. I must say it is alot of fun.

Does anyone else have this happen to them?

Kids will be kids. Cops are tough on street racers, will take your car and inpound it on the spot. Be carefull.

Wink same here

It's happened to me too. My first official kill was a souped up Mustang GT. He said he had headers, chip and "other stuff". No matter, I ate him alive. He was very impressed and somewhat disappointed to loose so badly...to a truck. According to him, he is fairly high on the "food chain" around here....he just lost ground. Mine too is bone stock, have a bit of trouble hooking up if I come out too hard, but the second gear patches run a consistant 6 ft. or so. Have had a few others...try?...not sure, if they were, it was a very bad showing.

I beat quit a few ricers in the last couple of months. Same thing, weekend night and some kid wants to race, but I'll only do it on the track or some back deserted road. The best was a guy in a new Monte Carlo SS, who tried to race me on the Interstate late one night. I pegged the neddle and was stopped at a light off the next exit when he finally rolled up. He wouldn't even look at me.

Angry grrrr

I hate that. At least the guy that I beat followed me to the store and we talked. He was a pretty nice guy. Hope to talk to him again. I loved it when he said to me, " I have a chip, headers, and lotsa other stuff, but it didn't matter. You wasted me."

Kids are like that. In days when my supercharger was working (long story, I am sure you are aware of it) they would give up trying after 15 seconds at most. All I would need to do is walk them few times without even breaking a sweat and they would realize they don't stand a chance, so it was no risk at all.

What deeply worries me though is truck drivers. Chevy and Dodge ones seem especially bent on trying to desparately prove something and that makes me nervous cause at that moment they drive in a manner that is dangerous for other people that share the same road.

Once in a while the Mustangs try to run with me, but I have to lay low for the next 18 months Or else...

But yeah, it is usually 'them' that initiate the run and they get all when all they see is a pair of L tails in front of them.

Talking the challenge

Well I got a call from my nephew today with a challenge. He has a Mustang GT with Hi performance intake, cam, headers, chip, and numerous other "goodies". He wants to race me tonight at 7. I said "sure". I'll let you know how it goes. It seems he talked to the other guy I raced. He said he can beat that guy "sometimes" too. Well, we'll see.

Thumbs up NICE!

Yeah I get the same thing around here. People just see the truck and they wanna see what its got I guess.....little do they know..haha. I had a guy roll up next to me in a Chevy Tahoe I think that was hooked up. He gave no indication at the light that he wanted some, so he took off, then slowed down for me to catch up to him, and then got smoked as I hit about 90 in a few secs. He gave up! I love the guys who think 22" rims make there truck fast....LOL!

I seem to remember a little bit of roasted tires when Chester and I left the BAHDFOG meet. He definately had me.

As far as being challenged, speaking from other experiences: when other people know you are good, they want to compair themselves to a standard.

We all do it. What sounds better?

My truck is fast.

or

I beat a Mustang GT with 'such and such mods' 3 times in a row.

The thing that bothers me is that there isn't more tracks to run at. I would be a lot less likely to run with anyone on the streets if I could get it out of my system at a 'safe' and 'legal' track.

4WL HOGG, yeah I remember that
You roasted your tires a little to much, whereas I only chirped mine. If you hadn't lost traction it would have been an equal run.
