Wink hmmmmm

Actually, I love flames. My FXR has "ghost flames" on the tank. I'm not real happy with the design/shape of the flames shown, but I do like flames.

BTW you can check out all my bike stuff and some other weird stuff at my webpage...click on flames link for flames.

Too much for my tastes - but everybody gets to vote with their wallet!

I'm not saying i don't like flames Fepony, i'd love to get a set of red ghost flames on my HD but those head/tail light covers look cheap and tacky for a 38K dollar truck IMO

ghost flames

Well i'm here to tell you that well executed ghost flames are a true wonder. They are not for the impatient. The flames on my bike took me over 3 weeks in the flame design part. I looked at every flame site, bike, cartoon, actual flames from various types of fuels, man!...it was driving me crazy....I didn't want those skinny wimpy looking flames like those or those fat scallop looking flames either. I wanted it to appear to engulf the front of the tank and "creep" down the tank toward the seat. After I finally came up with the design the rest was really a labor of love. I was so "****" about the paint. Before shooting it, I sanded it to perfection with 1000 grit. After the base coat of black was laid and it was allowed to dry for 3 days I wet sanded it with 2000 grit which gave it a "haze". Same for second coat of black. Then flames were taped and shot. (candy apple red) Then wet sanded with 2000 grit to blend edges a bit and ready it for clear coat. First coat was shot and wet sanded....same for second. Third coat had pencil eraser size dollip of pearl added which turned it all an amazing purple/maroon/black sparkle. That was then wet sanded with 3000 grit and was NEVER buffed....just waxed. You can't see them at all until it exposed to sunlight. You can't feel them although they do look like they are "on top" of paint. The edges of the flames are crisp yet shaded. It took many hours of sanding...(more than anyone else would have done) but it was a great result. The paint job is now 7 years old and has 69000 miles on it. I will probably use the same flames on the next paint job....coming real soon.

BTW I agree...i'm not to impressed with those flaming lights...lol

If they were subtle they might be cool... too much...

but the important part is the ****ed up filter that has been enhanced to make sure we can't link to other sites or mention them by name.

Just two examples.

first is s v t o n l i n e
second is f l a s v t

I think fordtruckworld still works...

ken, you can't post pics over here from ftw though. i had to save that in my gallery and repost it. i can see blocking out certain websites, but if we just want to post a pic, i think its a little too much, but hey, i'm not gonna complain. i'm tired of seeing it on the L board all the time, so don't even want to bring it up over here doesn't bother me that much to start up a bunch of $#!+

the covers might look cooler if it was done more professional looking or something. like color matched to the flames on the truck or something and same flame pattern just across the bottom, but still too much for my tastes (we need a barf smiley

Gay? I think so too -- Looks like something a ricer would do to try to make his POS look cool...but it doesn't cut it...maybe some pearl red ghost flames would be cool
