Question Hooking up...

Ok, now that it is getting a bit more broke in, (1200+ miles) I got on it a bit harder than i have so far. I can't get it to hook up at anything over 3/4 throttle from dead stop...it spins (smokes) for a good sec. plus (30 ft or so) before it hooks up and then leaves about 7 ft of black when it pulls second gear. How are you guys putting all those xtra ponies to the ground?

Okay.... The first thing to do is check your tire presure. I think that it needs to be at 32psi. Some people read the max on the tire and put that in it.(that's bad) It will spin all day long! Mine is stock and with 32psi I can mash it to the floor on the street or the track and NO SPIN! (I love the Banana)

that would be Showya

As for tire pressure. I think it says the max is 42 psi? Not totally sure, but i know its around there. The door jamb on the HD's say 35 psi though. I was running 40 but after 20K miles i noticed the center was wearing slightly more than the outter tread. Nothing big, but i backed the pressure down to 38 and have been running that since then. I'll get almost 50K out of these tires. But yeah it is a good idea to check them. I had a nail in the tread a few months back. Took it up to teh gas station so he could just put a plug in it, and he asked me what pressure to put the tires at. I said 38, and he looked at me funny and said isn't that kind of high for low profile tires? I told him thats what i wanted. I checked the tires about 2 days later and that tire had 48 psi in it! He friggin says he thinks 38 psi is alot for these tires, then he puts 10 psi over that in the tire

You don't want to run too low though because this can be a danger on the road and it will also decrease your fuel efficiency (if you really care?) I still haven't checked my tire pressure but I don't have traction problems with my '01 HD. What PSI is your boost gauge reading at WOT?

My 00 just stand on it and it hooks up on spin at all unless it's wet and then the fun begins steps out and all sorts and as for corners when it's wet forget it

What are you doing with a '00 HD in England? Do you ever have trouble fitting through those narrow roads?

Question Boost gauge?

Boost gauge? I ain't got no stickin boost gauge....you got one?

I checked tire pressure, all four at 38psi. Now back to trying to hook it up. Mods I want to make are L taillights and clear corner lights. Maybe my rear slider etched.

A question about lowering it, has anyone actually loaded up their scooter in the back to see if it will look/work right? I think with the FXR it might be ok but I think the FLT (bagger) might cause it to "sag" a bit......any thoughts?

IF you put the bike in the bed, make sure you put a board across the front of the bed, and one on teh tailgate to spread the load out. A few guys didn't do this and now have a crushed tailgate and a front bed wall caved into the front of the cab. strap that baby down tight!

just a question for you. Do you still have the stock 02HD headlights? Wouldn't clear corners look a little funny with the headlights with the orange reflector across the bottom and clear corners with no orange?

Actually i meant both lights in front. As far as fordpartsonline, they show SVT in pic on top but don't list it in trucks, just F150 does anyone know the parts # for them i can just search that way. They don't list anything other than F150.
