hey slick welcome to the site :thumb I see you're from NJ. you'll have to see about coming to our next HDFOG meet this spring or our meet out at mikes famous in delaware next fall. i'll have updates on the site when the time comes closer

anyway, i haven't heard too many problems with guys using syntetic, but most agree to wait a certian breakin peroid 1st. guys who use it will probably be around soon to post on it.
i still use dino in my HD, but for the s/c engines, it might be a better idea to use syn eventually

I've used Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic since either 3k or 5k miles, cant remember. I have 15k on the truck and it hasn't burned a drop.

I have read on one of boards that one should wait till 10K miles before doing it.

I switched over to Mobil 1 at 5,000 miles (2nd oil change). Have 31,000+ miles on it now and no drips or excessive loss of oil. I now change at 4-5,000 intervals and find the oil level near the bottom of the "safe zone" on the dip stick at that time.

I use full synthetic in my motorcycle and even my lawn mower. I have had a number of 60'-70's muscle cars that I ran regular oil in because I would end up changing it every 1,000 miles or so (big carbs and wild cams seem to contaminate the oil with gas quickly).

How much of the declining oil level could be contributed to loss of oil into the blower? I put an oil capture on mine and have probably removed a 1/4 of a quart in 3K miles and that is assuming that I have caught EVERY drop that has gone up into that tube...

Been running Mobil1 5-W-30 ever since the first change at 1,000 mile mark. The salesman and dealership owner highly recommended it. No problems to date.

As for issues regarding break in, many exotic high performance vehicles come standard with it in the pan.
