Any body know why the 02 F150HD has a towing limit about half of a 4x2 automatic Supercrew with a 5.4 and the same final drive ratio? If I remember correctly the HD limit 4600lbs vs 8200lbs for a standard Screw. I thought it might be the 20 inch tires but they are rated for 2094lbs each which is about the same any other 1/2 ton truck tire. I don't get it???

 

02 HD's tow rating is 4500 lbs, but guys have towed alot more than that with no problems. i'm pretty sure its the tire that is the limiting factor.
