its when you cut out the back wall of the truck for the speaker box.

dave - he said he DIDN'T want to hack up the truck. That means chop it up like you did. Besides...that system probably cost a ridiculous amount of money and you need a fiberglass tonneau to keep it dry and locked up.

I would recommend you go with the JL Audio Stealth sub box which comes with a high-quality 12" sub. It is custom made to fit inside the rear console of your HD for a sleek and custom look (NO HUGE BOX) You can check it out at

http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/f150_CTR4.html

It says it fits 2002 - up but it will also fit the 2001.

I have a Memphis LVS 12" sub in my 02'. All I did was take out the rear arm rest and placed the box there. I'm going to really look into making a new box this winter. something a little bigger. (more air space). check out the sub www.memcaraudio.com/P13_LVS_subwoofers.htm I think. I have a pic but don't know how to post it. Too big to email.

I will have to second ricekicker's recommendation -
I did the JL stealth box, it comes with a 12W3. "Invisible" unit, no one knows it's there until.......
It all comes down to personal taste, some like everything to be visible for the "show" effect. I was after the complete stealth look. Focal 3 way comps - all in the door, amp in compartment behind the rear wall, etc.
There may be better set ups, though the JL sub hits hard and tight - highly recommend.

Treadwheeler.....question

Do you had any pic's of the Focals mounted in your doors ? And, I was wondering if you were pleased with the results.
I have Momo 6.5's comp's in the doors of my L., but was thinking about trying something else.

Thanks,

Rob

Crockett59-

I'd be interested in the subwoofer box when/if you decide to build a new one...

I was thinking of the stealth box for the console, but I want a third seat as well.

As it stands now, I have removed the rear console completely and I plan on installing a JL stealth box that is built into the seat. They make them for the Ford Superduty trucks, and the Dodge Rams. I think I am actually going to go for the one in the Ram, it has the right dimentions and it has a JL 12" W3 in it. It cost $499 (speaker included). It will take some custom work to mount and upholster correctly but it is exaclty what I want.

In fact I plan on making one of the fold down consoles for the back rest of the seat as well. That way when it is down, it will still look semi-stock (and my passengers will have an armrest.
