HD CB Radio
I don't know if any of you have seen this yet. I work at a Harley Dealer and this was just released on Friday to us for special orders only from 11/15 to 12/15 for Feb delivery. I am getting one!!!

Suggested minimum retail in $129.99 but my guess is it may be more depending on where you are. I of course get mine at cost. There are benefits of working at a Harley dealer when you have a HD F-150 and a 98 wide glide!!!!!

CB Radio is COOL
The reason the cell phone won't replace CB radio is that on CB radio you are talking to many people, all of whom are interested in transportation and driving (read cars, trucks, cops, etc.) Can be a lot of fun, especially if you are on the road a lot.

OK, having been an over the road truck driver at one time in my life, I use and listen to the CB quite a bit when I'm on the interstate. It can and will save you a lot of headaches with traffic tie ups and how to avoid them and also where the "bears" are. It works WAY better than any radar detectors.
As far as an antenna mount, I am using a "through the glass" mount that looks like a cell phone antenna. The performance is marginal though. I have the radio mounted on the dash below the the cup holder. It will be hard to mount it in a way for you to see the logo on the top of the radio - the speaker is on the bottom - so you mount it with the top against what ever you mount it to. You could mount it the other way and use an external speaker, but the face plate would probably end up being upside down.
I have the same model Cobra as the one pictured (less HD logos). It performs decent out of the box. I have had mine hopped up to put out about 12 watts. The above listed antenna kills the added performance. I am thinking of mounting a regular 3-4' antenna to the rear bumper (either drilling a hole or making a bracket)

I use a Cobra 75WXST, which I have not been all that impressed with. It's that remote mount one with only the mic as the whole CB. The range is okay, I guess. It doesn't do as good as other Cobras I had before. If there was room to mount a normal sized one, and look good, I would buy it. Do ANY of the smaller sized CB's work like they should? I'm looking for one..........
I use a magnet mount antenna that I found at radio shack. It's the fiberglass kind, with a teardrop style mount that fits the bodystyle of the truck. They stopped carrying it, though. You can still find it at a few of the stores if you're lucky. This Harley one looks cool!! I like it!,,,,98

I am also using a "through-glass" antenna. They are available at Radio Shack. It is approximately 18-20" and looks like an oversized cell phone antenna. The range is moderate, but it is good for keeping in contact with convoys. The only downside is the antenna has to be unscrewed or folded down before I enter the garage.

Sorry for the second posting, but this one is to discuss mounting. I am currently using a center "hump" rack, as widely used in police and other emergency vehicles. It is handly as it is also used to house my trailer brake unit, CB, police radio, and cell phone bracket. Yes, I have a total of 4 antennae. But the rackis available through "Galls."
