02 grey paint

Hello to all,

Has anyone have any problems with their paint?

1. What I'm talking about is crap in the paint (chunks)?

2. What I call soft paint? Around the front hood and fenders areas it seems to get chips and nicks way too easy? This from normal everyday driving with less than 5000 miles?

tonysailor,

I had literally dozens of problems of different kind (from ones you described to fisheyes, etc) related to my paint (I have full list and pictures in my documentation). Dealership took that in under warranty, but they did not eliminate issue to my complete satisfaction. To have it the way it was supposed to be (not just look wise but also long term quality wise) they would have had to practically strip whole vehicle down and repaint it from head to toe and what they did (mainly color sanding, buffing, some touch up painting and clear coat filling) left me with some issues that are still visible. Also, while they were working on it buffing caused paint to burn in one spot. When that happened I saw result and was surprised with how thin paint and clear coat are. This prompted me to later talk with person that is extremely knowledgable and experienced body shop worker (from different body shop than one my truck was in) and he told me he is constantly having problems with too thin paint / clear coat on brand new Ford vehicles.

In my mind this is not right (that brand new expensive vehicle has such a crapy paint job) but I was told by lawyer that extensive "cosmetics" issues are tough to pursue. Still I wish there was a way to get what is right (if I were doing such a bad job for my clients I would be in big trouble). If you hear of one let me know.

Thanks and good luck!

another name to add to the growing list of names for dark shadow gray paint
gray
brown
gunmetal
silver
gold
burnt metal
mineral gray
i should write all these down. LoL j/k

haven't heard of many guys having problems with the paint, but there are always a few trucks that got the bad end of the stick with the paint.

I know there is a pretty big problem with the 2 roof rain channels cracking because there is like a soft sealant under the paint there, and alot of guys channels have the paint cracking. it doesn't extend out of the channels, but it does get worse over time. something i'd keep my eye one. i need to get mine repainted.
