Question K&N Filter Part #

Hello,
I was hoping that one of you out there could get me the correct part # for the K&N filter for the 2002 HD F-150. So far I have had two stores give me two different part #'s. I would appreciate your response.
Thanks,
Bart

not sure what the # is, but maybe if you told them it was for a 02 Ford lightning they could get the right part #? its the same exact filter. they seem to get confused sometimes w/ the HD cuz they don't always realize its a detuned L engine in teh truck

Thanks Josh!
The K&N book did list a filter for the Lightning but I was not sure if it was the same air box. I would still appreciate the K&N part # if any of you have it handy.
Thanks,
Bart

hey bart, the part number is 33-2140, it is the same filter as the lightning, and it should cost you around 40-45 bucks depending where you go

Unless he is adding more than a 4 lb pulley, a modified stock air box with K&N filter and additional tube run to the front will provide the same benefit as a complete replacement with cone filter.

St. Louis Lightning...... what do you mean by a modified stock airbox ??? Cutting out the bottom and running some flexible air duct or what ??? Just curious........ I have added the K&N, but still feel like I could get more air to the box somehow.

grayhd2 - that's exactly what I'm talking about. I did that mod on my Lightning and I'll be doing it on my HD this weekend.

I had this discussion with Sal last night. His opinion was the stock airbox mod was good up to 2lb's of extra boost for a Lightning or 4lb's for a HD. So as long as you don't add over a 4lb lower pulley, the modded airbox should serve you fine.

4lbs of boost on a HD??? Most guys here have only gotten about 1-2lbs maybe with the airbox mod.

What I am saying is if you are changing your pulley, the airbox mod will not hurt you until you go over a 4lb pulley. After that, according to Sal, the flat air filter can not pass enough air and you'll waste some of that pulley.

St. Louis Lightning......... are you saying by just cutting a hole in the bottom of the airbox, running some hose..... something like used for venting dryers etc........ will add 1-2lbs of boost ? Sorry for all the questions....... just want to make sure I understand what I'm doing. Would you run the hose out the bottom of the truck ???

just cutting a hole in the bottom of your airbox and getting a K&N filter should get you a lb of boost. The ram air (running a tube from the box, through the hole in the fender shroud to under the front valance) might get ya another pound. only thing is that gets you filter dirtier quicker and sand gets up there. check out JL's ram air system, it'll give ya an idea of how to set yours up if you do it yourself. or do a search in the L board, alot of guys have done it and posted pics
