Hey I am in Austin too, where did you buy your HD from? I got mine from Covert. Like you, I absolutely love mine. I am coming from a heavily modded trans am. I love my truck. Where abouts are you located?

 

IslandHopper, actually from what was explained to me the dealership will not be doing the work. It will be done by a shop that does sun and moonroof installation for them. The dealer and manager explained to me that it is just like factory, the only difference will be the control. They showed me one of their Expedition with a moonroof they installed at the shop and it looked like factory installed. The controls were different compared to a factory installed moonroof, but that was the only difference I could tell. They will have to modify the top console so I'll lose the sunglass and garage door holder, but get to keep my digital compass. No big deal since I wasn't planning on using them anyways. They plan on installing it by late next week, so I'll check with them again to verify who will be doing the installation before they start cutting. I would like to check out more vehicles that they have done to see the quality. If everything checks out okay and I do decide to get it installed, I'll post pics of the moonroof. I had a moonroof on my previous SCrew and loved it, so from now on whatever vehicle I get I need a moon/sun roof.

N2TRUX, thanks for the warm welcome. I'm slow to start the mods, mostly stereo and other minor stuff at first. I'll get to the engine later on once I get a better feel for the truck. The truck performs very good for stock HD, of course this is my first s/c engine and I'm coming from a 4x4 SCrew w/ a 4.6L.

HeHateMe, I picked up my grey HD from Leif Johnson by the Highland Mall. I'm from the N. Austin area by Pflugerville. I almost bought the last grey HD at Covert last week. I picked up my last SCrew from there and they treated me right, but they didn't this time so I took my business elsewhere. What part of Austin are you from?

 

I am right down the street neighbor! I live in Wells Branch. I didnt get a chance to go to Leif, since Covert laid me an offer I couldnt refuse, 32000. I spoke with a good friend/client of mine, who is the GM of Bluebonnet Ford in New Braunfels and he said that was a steal, and no way could I get it any cheaper than that. So I bought it, Covert treated me GREAT! Anyway, congrats on the new truck and hopefully I will see you around. I would like to see what your moonroof looks like. Any mods you have in mind? I am thinking about getting the chip or the airforce 1.

 

HeHateMe, wow I probably only live within two or three miles from ya. What color HD did you get? I've seen a black Supercab HD cruising around the W. Branch area at times, not sure if that owner browses this board. That particular HD I saw cruisin around caught my interest on the HD F-150's and of course this board finally convinced me to get one. As for performance mods, I am still debating what to eventually do first. I love the performance as it is right now. Guess I need to see what vehicles I need to go against around our area to urge me to start the mods under the hood right away. As for the moonroof, once I'm convinced that the shop can do a professional job on the moonroof installation, I'll let ya know. I'm sure they do great work after looking at the one they did on the Expy. If all goes well they will have it done before next weekend. We can meet somewhere and let you check out the moonroof. What is cool is the moonroof will come with a complete lifetime warranty instead of the standard 3/36 on a factory moonroof.

I think I have seen that black one too. Mine is a exactly like yours, #02226. I am still waiting on my gift set I am really happy with my trucks performance right now, but if I had the money I sure would like to get some toys for it!! See ya around hopefully.

 

I've seen pics of the gift set, can't wait to receive mine also. I heard it takes a few weeks to months. I checked with my dealer about the moonroof yesterday. There is a local custom shop that will do it. I forgot the name, but after checking out some of their work I went ahead and scheduled to have the moonroof installed next Thursday.

Christmas is coming up, you might want to start shopping for a gift for your truck.
