Bought 2000 Harley F-150 .... Question.....
I am picking up my (almost new... 9000mi.) HD Truck on thursday.
Can anyone tell me where to find what # the truck is?
Just found this forum, the forum and website look pretty informative so I think I'll stay a while. I'm moving out of a 1998 Merc Marquis and into my first truck.... what a truck to start with!
Thanks!!!

The original '00 H-D F150 owners were sent a gift box with a personalized build date/number plate and matching key fob. Unless you can locate the original owner you'll have to search this forum for a related topic. Harley356 may be able to help you out.
Good luck with the truck and enjoy. They're beautiful trucks! Welcome to the brotherhood.

aseifert, thats only with the 02's
anyway, welcome to the site haiweigh and congrats on the HD. its one sweet ride!
watch out for the mod bug though! its bad around here
anyway, FXDX is right, us 00 owners got mailed a leather wrapped and embossed gift box, with a keychain, certificate, and oval emblem inside. on the emblem was the build # and build date, vin#, and owner's name. unless you can track down the original owner for that info, there is NO way to find out your truck #. many have tried, but nobody has found out anything at all. and your vin# won't tell ya nothing either. i can tell ya there were 8197 HD's built in 00 though. anyway, congrats again on the HD. post pics when ya get a chance!
*edit* o yeah, does the truck have the factory hard leer tonneau cover that was supposed to come with the 00 HD's? some guys got em, others didn't.

Got the bed cover...
Hi all, thanks for the answers to my question.
I believe I can find out the info on the owner and hopefully get lucky enough to get the certificate.
The truck has the tonneau cover from leer and a hard windshield visor mounted inside the door frames. It's got the 6-disc changer and ... hmmm what else.... oh, how do I know if I have the engine block heater, what does it look like?
I haven't seen the owners manual yet and took the truck for it's first ride today.
The truck seems to have a shimmy when I got up around 65-70mph and above. I think it might just be the wheels out of balance but maybee you guys know something I don't.... any ideas?
As for the accessory bug... well, I have a honda motorcycle that I've probably sunk 3k into, and I've already been checking out some nice little goodies that I'd like to add...
like the hidden hitch, chrome 3rd brakelight cover, and grilles for the head and taillights. Can you put a "cow catcher" on the front of one of these things without cutting into the front end???
Last but not least, which model # of K&N filter fits the '00 truck?
Thanks a bunch!!

yeah, i'd say get the tires balanced and see if thats it.
so do you have the rear slider? the engine block heater should have a plug somewhere so you can plug the truck in, but not sure if it'll even have it or where its at, cuz thats the only option i don't have (or need
)
and what do ya mean "grilles for the head and taillights". You mean like headlight and taillight covers?
and wtf are you talking about wiht a cow catcher??? what the he!! is that? please don't tell me you are planning on putting a brush guard on the HD. Its a factory lowered sport truck!!!
o yeah, i say don't get a K&N, get an air force one. it looks alot better with the chrome, and gets a few more hp/tq becaues the end of the filter isn't capped off like the K&N is. Its almost the same price too at www.truckperformance.com so its worth it
here's a pic

there's more and better pics in my galleries
so when will teh pics be up?

Well quit yer laughing....
I haven't seen a chrome brush guard on any of the photos of the truck yet
so I may get to be the first one... truly unique
Ahh yes, I've got the rear slider too. I'll have to look good under the hood to find the "plug" you speak of for the engine block heater... but here in RI it doesn't get extremely cold, and if it does it'll probably rain the next day (new england weather)
As for the "grilles" I spoke of for the headlights and taillights I am thinking of the black metal guards that can mount over them, I've seen them on trucks on occasion, maybee they have a different name than what I'm thinking (think they will look too cheesey for the truck?)
I think I've seen pics of your truck with tinted covers that go over your headlights and taillights, so during the day they kind of blend in with the paint, is that your truck?(the pic you just posted doesn't show them on.) That look is cool too and maybee the way I'll go after thinking about it.
I found the air force one that you spoke of at the link you provided, looks good in your truck too what kind of filter is that, a proprietary brand?

You asked for a pic?
I just added a pic to my new gallery.
This is a pic of the truck at my dealer. I will be taking delivery sometime Thursday, possibly Friday if they don't have the alarm installation complete by the afternoon.

and here's my 6 cylinder toy

Dayuum... Is that a Corvair engine in that motorsickle? Just kidding. Nice truck man! Enjoy it and be sure to put all the crap on it you want. That'll ensure ours will be worth all the more! Just kidding again... Kinda sorta. I'd be a little conservitive with the mods and avoid the irreversible ones unless it's just another truck to you. As I'm sure you're aware, these trucks are pretty special!
Good luck widdit!

Pics look great!
as for a chrome brush guard, i think that would take some drilling and butchering of the HD. I still don't understand why you would put a brush guard on a lowered truck for
Is it just me or am i the only one who can't see any logic in it? but hey, its your truck and do whatever ya want. Definately be probably a one of a kind mod. lol. post pics though!
as for the head/tail grills, i know what you are talking about now. don't see the sense in these either. the truck isn't for offroading...whats the need?
and my truck is probably the one you are thinking of.
here it is with the headlight covers on and the bugguard and old hood

since then i've sold the covers, bought a ram air hood, and got clear 2002 Harley F-150 headlights

o yeah, the airforce one comes with the filter and all. it bolts right up. takes about 45 minutes to take the old one out and put the new one in. definately a noticible increase in power and sounds awsome!!! worth every penny!
anyway, here's a pic of my slotted taillight covers. didn't want to go with blackout covers cuz its illegal for one, and dangeous also. just begging for a rear ending i think. my truck is in the back so you can see the difference the covers make over stock

but since then, i've lowered the rear 2" and ditched the covers and took off the stock tails and replaced them with 2002 Lightning clear taillights. looks much better IMO

but again, its your truck, and its up to you as what you do.
Just keep us posted on your mods and congrats again on the HD!

nice looking truck you've got there Harley#356.
I wouldn't do anything to the truck that was un-reverseable, so mainly it would be bolt on stuff and things like that which won't require cutting or bending or anything else.
The air force one seems real nice, is the filter like a K&N, lifetime and spray on fluid?
.... wow, look at the shiny taillights you have!
I am a chrome-a-haulic already, so keep the pictures flowing
lol
Adios!

The 00 owners should start a thread and those of you with #'s should post it with the build date on the door stamp. My build date was in May. Does anyone know how to get the exact date it rolled off the line? It would help our cause.

I found that mine was originally purchased in June of 2000, so I imagine it should be a mid number, I will have to check the door next chance I get.
That's a good idea though abullerm !!!

yeah, except the door jamb date and emblem date are a few days apart
I guess the door jamb date is when the truck rolled off the assembly line, and the official build date a few days before or after. not totally sure, but i know its a couple days difference, but it'll give you a rough idea.
mine was built on May 18th of 2000, so you should have a low triple digit truck # abullerm

thats almost my exact same mod-guidelines. LoL
Anyway, yes the AF1 filter is the same as K&N for reuse and stuff. in fact, i have a K%N recharge kit for my AF1. only difference is the AF1 oil is blue, and the K&N oil is red. The AF1 gets more air though cuz the end isn't capped off like the K&N is.
you can see in this pic how inside the chrome ring, the filter element extends in to maximize surface area to get air in...

my engine looks naked in that pic without the chrome trim and looms. LoL.
anyway, you like the taillights? I have one set left that was supposed to be for a friend, but he changed his mind, so if ya wanted them, email me, before i list them on the classifieds. (joshv_85@yahoo.com)
tons of more pics in my galleries. LoL
