Theft Light in Dash??
Guys, I bought my truck used, got no remote un-lockers. Bought some on eBay, programmed 'em, work great. How do I get the alarm to work?? I see a "THEFT" light flashing in the instrument cluster, but shouldn't it stay on when the truck is locked? Also, shouldn't the horn chirp when I lock with the remotes? Can I turn the "Chirp" on/off? Truck is year 2000

What model year do you have?
The light that flashes "THEFT" is your PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System). As soon as you shut of the engine and remove your key, it is activated.
This is not the same as an alarm that has motion, tilt, or breakage sensors.

yup, its only a passive anti theft device. If you pull on the handle or something, it won't go off like a regular alarm will. Thats why its a good idea to get an aftermarket one to be extra safe.
and yeah, mschon is right, the horn should only chirp once when you click the button twice to lock it. You only have to push it once for all the doors to lock. To unlock it though, one push unlocks just the driver's door, 2 clicks all the doors as another safety feature.
i usually always lock the truck by hitting the button before i shut the door. Once in a while if i forget if i locked it at night, i'll just use the fob from teh window and click it twice so i can hear teh horn chirp so i know its locked without having to go out and check, otherwise once push will do it
