Boost gauge
Boost gauge
im wanting to just get a boost gauge for my truck, along with the pod, but i cant decide between the pillar or the steering column pods. Does anyone have pics of both? plus, i like the loof of the autometer silver faced gauges and would love to see if anyone has those in their truck as well. Any help or suggestions would be great.
thanks

Removed Decals?
Hey Jon-
Can't help you with the boost gauges, but wanted to ask about the decals you removed... I'm assuming you mean the pinstripes/flames along the side of the truck?
How'd you remove them? Any traces left over? Any fading/discoloration under/around the stripes?
Maybe you could do a search on the Lightning forum for the pillar gauges pics, and I think TampaSVT has the column mounted one...?

jonrauch,
I have installed the boost gauge on my steering column as shown in my photo gallery listed below. I really like this location because it is unobtrusive and most people believe that it came with the truck stock. The only downside is the odometer visibility is poor.

Hey Ghost,
How much modification did that pod need? I have one but it looks like there needs to be alot of cutting so that the shifter has enough travel and just to be able to get it over the end of the shifter.

drop-top,
I didn't have to do any modification to it at all. I just press fit the gauge into the pod and slid the whole assembly over the steering column. It fit so perfectly, I didn't even use anything to keep the pod in place and the color matches perfectly.

hey GRY GHST, is that a dash mat you have in the pic? I'd like to get one just to keep the dash cleaner and protected from teh sun better. Does it just sit up there? It'd make it a whole lot easier for getting ready for shows that way, just pull the mat off and my dash is still clean
Be cool if i could get some HD graphic on it also. How much was it?

lightning - i bought the truck in may, so there is a faint lin ewhere the decal used to be but an a few weeks time that will disappear. also, since the truck was relatively new, the stickers just peeled right off without a problem, but the rear stickers, with the flames, tore a little bit. ill post pics tomorrow so you guys can see wht the truck looks like without decals.
Harley#356,
Yes, it certainly is a Dashmat dash cover. Here in Arizona it is a requirement to get one so your dash doesn't evaporate. I had to special order it, due to the fact that the Harely is the only F150 series truck that has a black dash. It fits my dash like a glove so there was no need to fasten it down with velcro strips and it has all the openings for twilight sentinal light sensor and A/C heat load sensor. I believe the cost was around $60.00.

I originally ordered mine from Jegs, and the product order number was 105-15004 for the automatic transmission gauge pod. I checked back at Jegs and it appears that this number has been discontinued. I would call them to find out more on the status of this product (800) 345-4545.
Good Luck

thanks GRY. Just thought of something though. I have my owners emblem mounted on the passenger side airbag cover, and the dash mat would probably cover it. Not sure if i could make a cutout for it or what. What teh backside made of? do you think i could make an oval cut in it for the emblem to show through? Thanks again
Oh, if anybody wants to see pics of a DSG 02 HD without the pinstripes, go to coolasstoys.com and check out his gray HD. he used to be a member here, but hasn't been around. If i didn't point it out though, you probably wouldn't even notice a truck was in the pic let alone pinstripes gone

Harley#356,
Actually, the Dashmat has a special flap that is cut into the dash cover which allows the airbag to deploy without blasting the whole cover into your face. You could easily cut the flap off which would expose your airbag cover and your emblem.

LightningDammitt,
I did not order it from Ford, I ordered from a company in Arizona called http://www.qualitybumper.com. But I am sure that you can order one from anyplace that sells truck and car accessories. Or you can order one from http://www.saddleman.com/dashmat/ and I believe that I got the UltiMat version of the Dashmat.

I was also wondering about the boost gauge location. When I get my truck I was wanting to put a pillar mounted boost gauge in there along with a tranny temp gauge or a fuel pressure gauge. I have been looking at the pillar mounted gauges that some of the guys on the SVT Registry website have and I really did not like them too much. The pods were mounted on the A-pillar, which I did not think looked very good. I was wondering if the pillar is different for the HD than the other F-150? And this was why they did not get the molded pillar pods rather than the pods that attach with rivets to the OEM pillar.
Hope someone can clear that up for me.
