Question To trade.. or not to trade

Here I go again...
I received a letter from another ford dealership concerning a "private sale" they are having for former customers and how they are having a "special buyback" on 2000 models and I have a desireabe model... etc etc... and well, with the engine issue still fresh in my mind, I called and yep.. they have a 2002 HD

It's fully loaded.. black - I was leaning towards grey cuz with all the rain around here the black sure doesn't stay clean... But - they only want 33831.00 plus the wonderful financing options... Actually, if I got the good financing, I'd be better off than I am now cuz I got screwed on my current loan and am paying outlandish rates. But, I like the bench seat better... but I like the supercharged engine better.... choices, choices.. what to do..

of course, I wouldn't get another fancy engraved emblem with my name on it...... hmmmm

I know some of you out there traded your 2000's in for 2002s... any thoughts -

Lanna

Id say if you really want it, go for it. Then get a 3rd rear bucket seat and put it in. Either a plain bucket seat and have it reupholstered, or a HD one if you could find it.

why wouldn't you? They 02's come with a leather gift box, engraved owner's paperweight, and HD f150 pocket knife.

watch em. they will screw you on your trade, guaranteed. dealers don't know what relationships are with customers anymore.

Thumbs up

Trade it!

I traded my 2000HD for a black 02. The only things I miss from the 2000 are the chromed lower grill, tonneau, and the rear bench. In return though you get automatic climate control, more confortable seats, better handling (IMHO), a new 3yr\36k warranty, a huge center console front and rear, and oh yeah - 80 more horsepower! You also get the option of a moonroof and heated seats.

Got $22500 for a trade with 24k miles on the 2000 with a HUGE road rash on one rim. I got the 02 with all options other than the heated seats for $32500 - 400 college rebate. BTW, if anyone is looking for a used 2000, the dealership is trying to sell my old truck for only $28995 :o That is more than I paid for it two years ago brand new!

I aggree with 02Harley. I just traded my 2000 HD for the 2002 and I love it. I still had a year left on the lease and they took it back without any penalties. The interior in the 02 is great. I love the sunroof. The power over the 2000 is unbelievable. If you can get a good buck on the Trade in I would say go for it.

tRADE IT

DO IT, dO IT!! pEER PRESURE, PEER PRESURE. dO WHAT YOU WANT! iF i WAS YOU I PROBABLY WOULD THINK ABOUT IT A LITTLE LONGER. iM TRADING IN MY 01 IN A COUPLE WEEKS FOR A eXPO BECAUSE iVE GOT PITBULLS WITH NAILS AND IM NOT LIKE SOME OF THESE CLOWNS DOING 100MPH W/ 3 DOGS IN THE BED. i PUT MY DOGS IN THE CAB. AND DOGS AND LEATHER DONT MIX WELL. bUT IVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE VALUES OF THE hARLEY FORDS AND THE 2000 HAS KEPT THE BEST OUT OF ALL OF THEM SO FAR. pROBABLY BECAUSE THEY MADE SO FEW OF THEM COMPARED TO THE 02. bUT i LIKE ALL OF EM. iF ONLY THEY MADE A EXPO HARLEY W/ CLOTH SEATS. DAMN!!! iD ALSO KEEP IN MIND THE RISING COST OF FUEL WHEN YOU TRADE IN YOUR TRUCK. iVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE 02 HAS TO HAVE PREMIUM COMPARED TO THE REST HAVING REG. tO SOME THATS NO BIG DEAL BUT IT ADDS UP TO ALOT AFTER A YEAR. DO THE MATH. gOOD LUCK AND DONT LET MR. DEALER SHAFT YOU.!!!

yup, db's right. the 02's require premium fuel. Can get expensive if you have a lead foot I've heard of one guy getting as low as 5mpg! !!!! But on average, i've been hearing 11-12 mpg as a daily # from most guys with 02's.

not to troll the HD forum but I did the same in trading my 99 Lightning for an 01. better interest rate (0.9%), X-plan, gave me more than i owed... = $125 less a month.

I dont miss the 99 AT ALL.

obtw, the guy getting 5mpg has to be beating the shizznit out of his truck and in boost A LOT or towing some heavy stuff. I did a road course/on-track event and burned through 22 gallons of Sunoco 94 in 120 miles... hehe
