Were you running nos when your motor took a dump ?

Or were there any other "new mods other than the chip ?

Scary to think about...

Chip, 8# pulley, TB, JLP dual ram air. I think the chip program was wrong or the chip failed. I need to find out what program was on that chip......maybe I have a case. LOL

Yes, I would look into the matter more. I know after tuning a ls1 with LS1 edit you can change things quickly. No boom luckly.

So are you putting the 8lb lower back on ?

Also did you ever get any times with your prev. set-up ?

Sorry to here about the boom !!!

I think I'm going to go with a 4# and sell the 8#. This was an expensive mistake. I'm beginning to think that anything over 10# boost is to much for these trucks longterm. I started thinking about it and I would never consider running 14# on my cobra with stock internals, why should I do it to my truck.

Several reasons actually... First--the HD has forged pistons, the Cobra doesn't, Second--the HD is only spun to 5300 rpm or so, the Cobra hits 7000, Third--the HD is intercooled, the Cobra isn't, Fourth--the HD is lower compression (8.5???) the Cobra is 9.85 to 1... Don't fear the boost! Fear bad tunes....
(*this opinion subject to change if I blow my motor )

HD v.s L internals

I've never got a definate answer on this question - are the engines EXACTLY the same except for the pully and mapping? I did a compare on a ford's site once and the engines had different specs, the compression was different if I remember correctly. I figured they just didn't have the right specs for the HD, but still I wonder. Can someone clear this up with some hard specs?

Is an L and HD short block the same thing (part #)?
Is the intercooler the same as the L? (Remember, they changed the intercooler in the L once or twice.)

I'm particularly interested in the short block part # or other engine #s.

part #'s for the two are different, hard to say about the internals. I ordered a lightning motor and it was installed yesterday, also running a lightning SC(pulley is only difference).

GT-40, whats your air fuel ratio??????

I am a hair on the rich side in 90+ degree weather.

I will have to look at the dyno sheet and its at home.

Does 11.6-11.2 sound right ? Don't qoute me on that.

GT-that sounds about right, who did your chip? Rob, I think the 4#er is going to be the ticket. Going to go stock for awhile and break her in, then I will put on the 4#.
HDf150inWV- About two weeks ago after installing a new chip from RPM outlet, with the over the phone tune,LOL, she let go at full throttle when she shifted into O/D at about 110mph. DETONATION, holes in the block, burnt-off electrodes on plugs, and pistons in millions of pieces.......it was ugly....of course the warranty was denied.....I should do a formal thread, aw the hell with it, I get my truck back tomorrow
Never thought I would get tired of driving a 500hp cobra on the street, but I am.

GT,
11.2 - 11.6 is fine. Did you use the exhaust probe that you stick in the tailpipe, or did you remove one of the O2 sensors? If you removed the O2 sensor, those numbers are exactly what you have. If you used the tailpipe probe, then you are actually .5 - 1 full point richer.

When I dynoed mine with the old JLP chip and 8# pulley, I was at 10.8 with a tailpipe probe. I had not had a chance to dyno the new chip prior to the meltdown.....wish I knew what the A/F was just before she fell to pieces.........sounds like a bad country & western tune.
