ARE Tonneau Colour Match Problem

I have recently purchased an ARE tonneau for my Grey 02' HD...

Has anyone had any problems with the tonneau colour not matching the truck colour? (By the way... that's how we spell colour in Canada and the rest of the world, except the USA.

I'm going to go back to the ARE dealer this Sat. to discuss mine. The tonneau colour on mine does not match too good.

Let me know if anyone else has seen or heard of this problem.

I hope mine matches! Or I'll be very upset! I just ordered mine like 2 weeks ago. I'm still waiting for it.

Did they get your paint code? If they did, it should be right on.

I had a A.R.E cover on my 2000 HD. The colour matched perfect but with black that is a lot easier. I bought it from Van & Truck World in Scarborough. Were did you get yours and how much was it. I want to get one for my 02 as soon as I have the cash.

My white doesn''t match very close.....

I have always thought my ARE LS II lid was off a shade or 2. I had a color match on a Chevy that I thought was off as well. So in my experience, I find "non-perfect" matches. I thought it was the fiberglass reflection. My lid matched the door handles which are just a shade off the body color....... I will post picture some day when the digital Camera fairy stops by my house.... Or I guess I could take regular pictures and have them put on a disk.......

The dealer I got mine from was Vehicle Venture in Windsor, Ontario. I also purchased a BedRug (love it!).

The dealer used the CX paint code to order it.

The cost (Canadian funds) for the ARE HardTop was $994 and $105 for the headliner. Install was $50.

The BedRug was $475 and I installed it myself... it was easy and it turned out great. I'll try and post some pics of the BedRug soon.

For any Yankees out there, the conversion exchange rate for US$ is about $1.55. So for the Hard Top it would be about ($994+105=1099/1.55) $709 US. We also have to pay 15% tax in Ontario... that was another $245 CDN!!!

As far as the color matching problem goes... I visited the dealer today and they are more than willing to send it back to ARE for them to repaint... We took it off today and they also removed the gas cover to send with it for a paint match.

I should know and a couple weeks how it turns out... I'll let everyone know.

cool. good luck with everything. hope it turns out the right color this time.

my tonneau cover is separating from the under bracing panel. pretty common on the HD-leer tonneaus cuz they used cheap glue they said the new one should be there in 6-9 weeks. Still beats the 14 month wait i had to get it the 1st time I just hope they resolved the problem by using better adhesive cuz i love the looks of my cover

Does anyone have any stories about the snug tops for the HD's. I think I like it better than the ARE but not sure.

Teknics has a snug top. Great quality and looks great if you want a low profile cover and that covers the rails, but his bracket slid and the hinge put a gouge in his rear window trim and it rubs when he makes hard left turns i believe. just something to watch out for, but i'm sure its easily advoided
