Angry Hit and Run

Just got back from lunch and what do I see. My license plate is a bent and by bumper is scratched up. Some bastard hit my Truck and did not have the courtesy to stay or leave a note. Now I have to find out how much it will cost and if I “need” to use my insurance or not. This is the second time someone has hit the Truck and left. Another time I got rear ended, so the guy could not leave. What a pain in the ***.

Sorry to hear about that , that really sucks. It appears that the drivers up there in the great white north are no better than down here in the good old US of A. Good luck on the repairs. Were here for you brother, vent away.

Here are some pictures. The damage is not really that bad, but I am still pissed. I went to the dealer that fixed it twice before for a quote. They will buff out the scratches and repaint the metal bumper piece and replace the plate holder for about $175 CDN. Better than I thought. I am going away for the weekend and I don’t need the Truck, so they will do the work while I am gone. Some good things do happen.

Thanks for understanding Guys.

Martin

I know the feeling. Someone opened a door on the driver's side, left a small crease, and then someonbe backed into the rear bumper, left a white ruboff and small dent. Dent Doctor should be able to tap them out pretty well.

de ja vu

I was looking around the old posts and came across this thread.
It's "de ja vu" to me because my old 2001 XLT Screw was hit exactly like that in a mall and left my license plate holder dangling.

The person that hit me didn't leave any note. Luckily, about 10 people left notes on my windshield about the who, what car and license plate that hit me. This was X-mas shopping season so there were a lot of people in the mall. Called the police, they traced the license number, got hold of the owner. It was an old lady driving a beat up big ole' Cadillac. She said didn't even know that she hit someone.

Got the estimate for repair and it was less than my deductible. But the husband of the lady that hit my truck sent me personal check to cover the whole lower valance panel.

Hope you had yours fixed.

Hey chesterc

That was my 2000 HD that happened too. A week after I had it fixed I bought my 2002 HD. Of course my bad luck did not stop there. This past Monday I noticed a scratch on the passenger door. Someone opened a door into it. F#$&$ bastards. I was able to buff it out, so some luck there.

I realize that s***t happens, but people need to be responsible for their actions and pay for the damage they caused.

Sometimes I wonder if I should just drive a beater but then I wash the Truck and look at it at smile. These Trucks are too much fun to own and drive.

Unfortunately this is part off the experience.

Josh

I got some turtle wax rubbing compound to take the scratch out better. If that does not work I will try the ScratchX

Yes...vent away, but remember how lucky you are to be American...oh wait...you aren't American j/k Anyways...get your baby repaired soon - How is the weather up there in Canada? It is literally perfect down here in South Florida. It was in the mid 70's this afternoon. Good luck on your repair!

um, dont' think he's worried about getting it repaired soon being that he doesn't even have the truck anymore

you should have had the dealer swap lower grille's for ya before you traded it in

They definitely cheeped out with the Grills on the 02’s. I wish I had the upper and lower ones. It’s even a pain to dry the grill after a wash.
