I know how to pop out the dash surrounding the head unit. I just need to know how to remove the head unit. Do i need keys or something. Can i just use long nails? And if i do need keys where would i get them from? ALl help appreciated

Yes, you do need special keys. You could probably get them from an audio place (Crutchfield sent me a pair when I ordered from them). A Ford dealer might even take it out for you, only takes two secs.

You need special keys which look like big U's. You can pick them up from your local auto parts store (discount auto, pepboy's). Good Luck. I found this out the hard way... sat there tryin to yank my stock stereo out without the keys, and got VERY frustrated! LOL.

I agree with the suggestions mentioned above. I got the FORD OEM removal keys from Kragen for $ 6.50. Put them in and out comes the stereo.

The Ford Din Radio Removal tools are available at Autozone for $3.99 and worked well for me. I bought 2 sets so I'll have a spare.

I tried the nail/screw/coat hanger routine too knowing there had to be an easier way and got PO.
