Driveline thud

Does anyone have a slight 'thud' in the drive line every time you take off from a dead stop. Its kinda like a u-joint going out. Maybe it is the two piece drive shaft or is it just plain axle wind-up. Is anyone else experiencing this?

By the way, it only took 3200 miles for my brake pedal to come apart. Are there any decent looking reasonably priced billet pedals out there?

Thumbs up

Just had that fixed on my truck today in fact. It is rear end load-up, and is cured by lubing the driveshaft yoke liberally with teflon grease. Apparently quite common with this aluminium shaft.
"symptoms"- upon stopping , then releasing brake... a clunk once or twice coming from the rear end.

Did you take it into the dealer to have that done or is it something I can do at home?

what year HD do you have? If you have a 00 or 01, you have a one piece aluminum driveshaft. If you have a 02, you have a 2 piece steel driveshaft. not aluminum. unless you changed shafts.

I had this problem on my 2001 Suercrew, if you took off from a stop with foot on the brake and a little gas, it would take off but you would also feel a "bump" or something...like something was slipping, then suddenly grabbed, the service guys said it was the springs unloading, but I didnt believe them. It also did it in reverse. you would feel the truck start to go backwards then it would thump again. kind of a strange problem. It was real annoying, in fact that was the one major reason I traded my Supercrew

I think I have also felt the same thing with my 02HD, but Ive only had it a week. . time will tell.
