fog light (harley 356) question
fog light (harley 356) question
when you but your lil switch for your lights to be on when your parking lights are on, did you cut #5 and #12 and then use another wire from each to go to the switch??
so that there would be 3 wires(the one thats goin to the switch and #5 that you cut and made two wires from) from #5 and 3 wires(same as 5 but with the 12 wire) from #12 and the two that you provided would go to the switch?????
if this is right someone let me know please

huh? i'm a little confused by the wording there
i didn't cut ANY wires at all. i didnt' even strip any wires
I used these little blue things that clamp onto 2 wires (any point on the wire, doesn't have to be the end of it) and makes an automatic connection between the 2. That way no splicing or cutting wires. But if you don't use these (i'll try to get a pic of one later) you just need to strip a little of the rubber coating off the #5 and #12 wires. Leave them connected from teh switch to the lights, if you cut it, then you're back a square one, but with an added switch to make ANY lights work AT ALL.
the only thing you have to do is tap another spare wire into the #5 and a different spare wire into the #12, and run those to the switch. this way, when the switch is off (circuit broken=no power) the ##5 and #12 aren't connected in any way. the spare wire would dead end at the off switch. when the switch was on (circuit open=power between the 2 wires) the spare wires connect the #5 and#12 and feed power to the fogs at all times.
if you want, email me and i'll give you my number and you can call me and i'll try to answer any questions. it might be a little easier that way.

Pic ***** to the rescue!
yeah, i took the one pic of where i located the switch on that bar under the dash, hard to tell though. hard to get a camera to get the angle right. (told ya it was hidden good but right in reach
)

i didn't think i would have to take a pic of the wiring, but i guess i will cuz i guess its harder to explain if you've never taken the switch out to see what i'm talking about. I'll do it tomorrow if i remember.
