1/4 mile times at houston raceway park tonight

I ran the truck 4 times tonight. I could have run 20, but was trying to let it cool down in between runs. The temp started about 97 and ended the night around 88. Obviously high humidity in Houston. I ran it right after I got there and about 3 times approx 30-45 minutes apart. The problem was that by the time I got staged, the engine was already at full temp, so all my runs were on a hot motor. I am going to install electric fans ASAP in the hopes that I can get a little cooler run down the 1/4. Run 1 was solo, 2 and 3 I smoked some rice, and 4 I got handed my butt by a pro-mod truck. (high 10 second run for him)

My runs were, in this order, 14.0, 13.9, 13.8, 13.8. The last one I had poor traction but was the coolest temp for me that evening.

The best of the 4 were as follows (I'll post a link to the MPEG as soon as my buddy gets it off of his camera) There were no R/Ts tonight as they were instant green.

60 ' 2.005
330 5.782
1/8 8.886
mph 79.60
1000 11.559
1/4 13.831
mph 99.15

Traction was pretty good at the track. The trucked spun just a little, but pretty good bite for the GTIIs. I was actually kind of surprised.

My mods are as follows:
JDM 6lb lower
AF1 intake
REM ported/polished TB and Plenum
JDM chip

I am running REALLY rich, so tuning the chip, an electric fan setup, and some cooler weather maybe I can break the 13.5s. I couldn't get the weight of the truck as their scale seemed to top out at around 5700. I tried 3 times and the numbers rolled up and then it said overload. A buddies lightning there was 4650 or so. I hate to think we are 1K more in weight. I will try to make it out to the dump where they weigh the vehicles for the dumping charge and get a good reading.

12's in this truck is going to be tough.

one word....MODS!!!

nice times ken, its starting to get there

cobra, once you get in the 12's consistently (which shouldn't be too long ), you'll have to come down to atco so i can video tape your run, then i'll try and link it to here so everyone can see.

This is really getting tiring - "one word - Mods" isn't an answer to the question - look at my signature - I have "mods" too!! I am looking for information as to "how" he is using the "mods" to get what he is getting! And don't come back with "driver" as the answer - and since I am getting close to being a pain with this - why is it that we have never seen a time slip from the only guy that is running 13.1 in a Harley??

One more thing

And one more thing - I still maintain that you will have to be putting aprox. 475hp to the rear wheels to get around 13.1 with a 5400lb truck - thats aprox. 175hp more than the truck comes stock!! has the truck ever been on a dyno?

How are you launching? Are you lowing your tire psi? and are you dropping weight by removing fuel, spare tire, etc?
I went to the track a couple weeks ago, and the tire spin was unbelievable. I don't think I have as many ponies as you (320) in my SC 2001 HD, but my launhing was all tire spin. HELP!

I didn't mean to make you "scream" - but you still are not willing to list your mods and you don't even know what size pulley you are running - I am not calling you a liar - I want to know what you are doing so that I can head in that direction - I am putting over 405 to the rear wheels and the best that I can do is 13.6 - I know that heat makes a difference - but is it that big of a difference? Inquiring minds just want to know.

FastHarley, the reason i said "MODS" was cuz i know he has a lot of them, but i don't personally keep track of everybody's mods to list on demand. I just listed that as a response until cobra got on to reply. Need a little humor on the boards once in a while to lighten things up. He listed his mods about a month back in a thread, but i'm not sure what one.

Also, last time i was at atco for their show and races, they had a portable dyno set up. I was there when cobra put the truck on the dyno, and i have it video taped and the chart on the vid also where he made it into 400+/500+. If i can figure out how to post that, i will. And o yeah! if you want to see it, tune into espn 2 on october 4th i think at 6 pm. (i'll double check on teh date later) because cobra's truck will most likely be on TV when he was doing his dyno run. Then EVERYBODY can see it

and cobra, i'll definately try and get to atco to watch your run. I'll email you later for more details. I'll also video tape it and try to post it.

and if you want, you can (snail) mail me a couple of your time slips, and i can scan them, and mail em back, or give em back to you at atco in october, and i'll post them for you since there is so much doubt here.

please don't turn this thread into a flame

I too find the 13.1's a little hard to swallow. I have the same amount of boost as him and maybe 20 rwhp and 40 less tq.

Yet he runs 8 tenths and 4 mph faster. The mph makes a little sense with the better air and closer to 0ft air or less -500 on some days. but the 8 tenths damn !

I will be the first to say with these trucks so new I will need to see a time slip and maybe some video.

I know there is a guy on another board that claims 12's and he lives local. No one at the track remembers him and when I said we should meet up he was gone from the board????????

I too call no one a liar. But with so much bench racing on the internet I believe very little I hear, and half of what I see.
