I've been wanting to get a set of black emblems for my truck for a while now. but when i seen some of the prices for a friggin emblem, i said no way, not worth it. But then on a ranger site i saw a how-to on changing the color of your emblems, and i decided to try it on an older spare emblem i had. I just looked at the truck's emblems quickly, and it looks like it can work on those too. Not 100% sure, but i'm going to buy an extra emblem from the dealer to give that a try next, but it should work. Anyway, the instructions on that site were pretty hairy near the end, so i made up my own. There are a couple defects on the emblem, but they were there before i started. The actual changing of the color went perfect. waaay better than i expected. So here's the pics. Let me know what you guys think....

 

 

Post if anybody is gonna do this. I'm gonna buy a new set of emblems for my truck, just cuz i don't want to permantly change anything that came on it. And o yeah, a hair dryer would help getting the emblem apart with less chance of damaging something. So what do you guys think? good mod?

Great mod Josh..............I have wanted these too for a while. I only have one question.. how do you get the emblem off the truck without damaging the paint?

 

before you do anything, read these other 2 threads. i'm still not 100% sure it can be done to these new truck emblems. I'm going to be buying a new emblem at the dealer to test it and i'll post results. It should be able to work though if you heat it enough, use a sharp knife, and be patient. as for getting the emblem off, i think the front one bolts on, and the back one is on with tape, so fishing line should cut it. but you probably don't even have to take them off if this works out right.

hey clonetek, on average, how long does an indiglow emblem last? I was thinking about getting one for the front? Thanks

geez, around 100 bucks for a mod that i can do with a 2 dollar can of spraypaint if i can get the emblem separated

i should make my own and sell them.

hopefully i can make it out to the ford dealer soon so i can get another emblem to test it on
