Question Trailer hitch

My 02 does not have a Class III trailer hitch that my previous 2001 XLT Screw had. I have seen some pics of some members here with what looks like a Class III hitch.

I can still tow right? To about 4000lbs correct? The Seadoos need some last minute summer awakenings

I just got a hidden hitch on my 02 for the same reason. I'll have to look at the model number today. It fits perfect, six bolts. Only the square receiver shows, the main portion is behind the bumper, unseen. About $130 depending on the finish.

I'll have to get rid of my 6" drop down bar now, got to figure what height bar I need now.

yeah i think you can tow up to 4500 lbs. the tires are what limit it so much. but a few guys on here have towed more than that without any troubles. good luck!

Sorry it took so long.
I installed the Hidden Hitch #82583, six bolt install.
All that shows is the square receiver and the place you put the elec. outlet and chain hooks.
Very neat setup.
I might take mine off and give it a better coat of paint.

An Old Pic

This pic is of my truck and has been posted several times. But, heck with the new people, hopefully it will help!

It is a Hidden Hitch and very easy to install. JC Whitney sells them for $99 with shipping included depending on their current promotion.

Do you have a picture from a lower/center angle that I could view?

I have a Putman (I think that's the spelling) Class IV hitch. It's about the same look as yours from that angle. I have not yet relocated the plug, but will do so in the near future. I figured for the extra 30 bucks the hitch and the mounting would *NEVER* be the weak point in the link (8000# rating towing no more than 5000#'s).

Thanks,
/tg

Pic angle

At the present time that is the only picture I currently have. It is pretty dark, but if you put it in a photo editor and use the brighten function, perhaps, you will be able to see the hitch itself and the mount.

If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll see about taking another one.

anybody know where i could get a *cheap* hitch that i could fit a HD plug like the one HarleyGuy has in it? I don't care if it is a class I if it will all fit . i never have towed anything, and never plan to with the HD. i just want a HD hitch plug that i saw at the HD dealer. it might be the same one harleyguy has, not sure, but it was a HD b/s emblem with wings off the sides. I don't feel like spending 100 bucks on a reciever hitch that i'll never use other than to put a HD plug in it

That's a buddies boat, I let him use the truck to tow the boat. I have no Idea how much the boat weighs. It's a 25 foot Daytona all I can say is that, it is HEAVY. The back is lowered 2 inches, and with the boat behind it it went down about 2 more.

HarleyGuy? Where did you get that hitch cover? I like it...

Zinc-Zag, if you want, I can take a pic of mine and post it. Just explain exactly how you want it taken.

Cool Hitch Cover

RickC. A lot of Harley dealers carry the hitch. Be sure to get a 2" square hitch if that is your carrier size. It is billet aluminum. Don't be fooled by cheap knockoffs. Haha.

I purchased mine from Cherokee Harley-Davidson in Cherokee, Iowa. It was appx. $76 including tax and I had them ship it to me. I am sure they would do the same for you if you call them with a credit card number.

Good luck!

HarleyGuy
