Does anyone know the towing capacity of the F150 Harley Davidson edition? I wanted to use it as both a daily driver and to haul a 24 foot enclosed trailer for my race car. Thanks for any information you can provide.

 

It's 4500 pounds for the trailer, 10,000 Gross, truck & trailer.

I also have a racecar I tow with my 02 HD. I want to get a bigger trailer but the 4500 lb limit is a problem.

The real question is why is the limit so low: the chassis can clearly tow 7700 lbs (you can get that in other F150s with a tow package), and even the L can tow 5000.

I'm guessing that the HD-specific wheels have something to do with it, or possibly the tires.

Alternatively, perhaps Ford de-rated the HD because it was concerned about the relatively large amount of torque sent through the tranny and two-piece driveshaft, along with the presumed propensity of 02 HD owners to add more power than stock.

Inquiring minds want to know- does anyone from Ford know why the limit is so low?

I am kinda bummer too! I plan to buy a 24' toy hauler in which I'll carry a Honda XR 400 and a modified off-road golf cart for desert runs. I hope the trailer and contents will be within the capability of my 02 HD! I would hate to think that I might have to change the rims and tires just to tow?

 

I agree that one reason might be the wheels and tires. It is definitely strange that the rating is so low. 4500 is cutting it really, really close even with a small enclosed trailer and a 3000 pound Mustang race car. I was hoping to travelling in style to the races! If anyone knows a fix or any updates to get the HD truck to tow more than the 4500 limit please let me know!

 

The problem is the tires. The rims and everything else are fine. The max load for the gt II Goodyear is something like 1280 lbs, compared to 1860 for larger tires on a regular f150.
