Angry Lost Foglight on 02 HD

Well, I was driving home from work the other day and a truck ahead blew a tire. I couldn't avoid the tread and ran over it with my truck.

Came home and inspected the damage (I was afraid to look). The right foglight was gone. It looked like someone stole it it broke off so cleanly. Snapped right off the bracket and the wire unplugged clean.

Bumper cover and everything else was okay. Had to buff out the tire marks but fortunately I had 4 coats of Zaino on it so it came right off.

Anyway, has anyone replaced a foglamp assembly for a 2002 HD? Do you know how much they cost and if I can get them anywhere besides the dealer?

I'll check with my dealer when I get back from vacation. I'm sure these things aren't cheap.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Bill,

I posted this last year when I had to replace a fog light on my 2001. Hope this helps!

Just recently had to replace a fog light, got it $100 cheaper on-line, instead of going with Ford. It's a genuine ford fog light...

Thanks, Harley#650.

I'll give them a try. Man, $170.00 for one foglight. I'd sure like to use that dough on some mods instead of replacing a foglight.

So you're in Pleasanton, huh? I'm in Livermore. We should hook up some time. Send me an email if you want.

sorry to hear about that bill. i only have limited internet access right now, so i have to make it quick. a few months ago my drivers side fog light fell out. still held on by wire, but i unplugged it, took it into the dealer and they replaced it under warranty cuz no damage to the bumper. and i kept the other fog as a spare. try the dealer its worth it. i'll try to get on here more later
good luck

hey canscrew! came over here for a visit?

anyway, yeah bill, try the dealership 1st. can't hurt. They replaced mine under warranty cuz the guy went out to the truck and couldn't find any damage to the bumper or anything like that, only the piece of bracket that was left, so they replaced it for free. Its worth a shot. good luck!

Hey 356 watch the language! j/k

Yeah, I mostly lurk around here. But once in a while I chirp in when I think I can help.

Many of the folk frequent both sites as you are aware.

RE: Lost Foglight

Same thing happened to me... I went to take a picture of my truck, and noticed it was missing... On closer inspection it looked as if someone snapped it clear off. I took it to my ford dealership though, and they're replacing it for free... I would consider telling them that it just fell off.

Thanks for all the info, guys! Just got back from vacation and looking at the forum a little.

The more I think about it the more I think the bracket was cracked to begin with and the tire I hit had nothing to do with it.

I'm going to go to the dealer today and tell them it just fell off. The bumper is in perfect condition only the bracket snapped off.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Well, I'm happier now. Stopped by the dealer today. He looked at my bumper and didn't see any other damage so he ordered a new foglight for me, under warranty. Woohoo!!

The service department must not see too many of these trucks....the first thing he asked me was if the lower bumper cover and foglights were from the factory

Anyway, he's gonna call me when it comes in. $225.00 list price. Ouch!

WatchThis,
The lower grille can be ordered from J & J Enterprises. Their website is http://www.j-jent.com. About $100 with shipping.

bjb119,
I wasn't sure if they would replace it or not. Thought they might try to say it was my fault. Since there was no other damage then he couldn't say it was something I did but a defect with the part.

Didn't hurt any that the guys at the service dept were more or less drooling on the truck since they only had black ones at this dealer.

Probably would have done anything I asked...hmmm, maybe I should go back and request some more goodies!!
