Adjustable Boost on SC or TC
Does anybody know if it is possible to adjust boost when using a Super charger or turbocharger..
Would the computer adjust the amount of gasoline fed to the engine when changing boost..
just a question..

Hi Rolf,
The ways to control boost are different for a supercharger compared to a turbocharger.
Supercharger boost is controlled basically by how fast you spin the supercharger, while the total amount of air the blower can push is also limited by it's size (airflow capacity).
Turbocharger boost level is controlled via a wastegate, either adjustable or fixed, and/or by the PCM (powertrain comptuer), depending on what kind of vehicle it is, whether it's a factory turbo setup, etc. and is also similarly limited by size (airflow capacity).
In computer controlled vehicles, no, you cannot just depend on the A/F ratios being automatically correct when changing boost levels, you have to *make sure* that the Air/Fuel ratios actually tested & tuned for properly.
In these supercharged Harley that this section is about in this regard, we know from having many of them on the dyno & doing A/F ratio testing approximately where they're going to be, and can certainly provide a baseline program for anyone to go to the dyno with & get the A/F's checked for final tuning.
Just some basic FYI...................
