Yes , the dealer made the repairs. I would suggest going to a few different dealers & go with the one that you feel the most comfortable with. Look around, see if they mask the cars up real good ,have a clean paint booth & shop , Explain what you expect ,& if they are still enthusiastic about doing it ask them to put their best guy on it. Not the fastest , the best.
It's not that big of a deal, they will blend the basecoat then clear the panel. I got all worked up when I started noticing the thin paint , but it all worked out & I pretty much forgot about it untill I saw your post

Kansas City here................ I am all ears here

I was one of many who personally built these street machines and if you have a warranty or quality issue, address Ford Motor Company. You are entitled to have your concerns addressed and corrected within warranty. I personally can say I wrote many a HD at night for paint concerns, but cannot catch all 12,559 units since I cannot be in 2 places at once around here.

Good Luck and believe me, Harley Davidson and Ford Motor Company want you, our customer, happy and cruising for years to come!

Thanks ShowYa! I will pursue it, and since you are listening here, I guess that Ford realizes the problem and has taken steps to correct it.

Thanks again,
RickC

I had paint problems also. I have a '99 deep wedge wood blue reg cab Flareside. My truck had little white lines all over it which where hairline cracks in the paint. It look like I dried it with a white towel and got lint all over it. I had to go to a couple dealerships before I found a dealership that would repaint the whole truck. The bad thing was they would not give me a loaner while they were working on it for about a week. It has been a couple years and it still looks really good.

Good luck,

When we balanced out back in June before our annual 2 week shutdown, we had just hit 12,249 units. I was aware there was roughly 8-12 units that evening that had been caught up in the paint shop that never made it to the floor for production. I am as I said above here, estimating around 12,559 units were built in Kansas City.
