Talking New Harley Owner

Greetings all!

So I've been eye-balling the 2002 Harley's for awhile, and let me tell you...I've never wanted a vehicle so bad! I had been out of work for awhile so purchasing a new vehicle was totally out of the question.

I finally got a job, and today, the local dealership was selling select Harley Davidson models for $5000 off MSRP (which came out to $680 under invoice). They had four listed in the add and only one when I got there. The four they were selling at this price had the soft cover tonneau cover added, and everything else was fully loaded.

So I finally got one!!! The last one they had was even the color I wanted...Gray!

I've been reading this board since the first time I saw this truck and have a lot of ideas as to what I want to do to it. Of course, my wife is still getting over the fact that we just bought it, so convincing her will take some more time.

Glad to finally be in the ranks!

Welcome to the ownership! I too have just purchased a new HD after many weeks of " window shopping", and that price is awesome! And, I thought I got a great deal... I knew the closer the I waited to the new model year the better the prices would be, and you proved this theroy correct, good for you!!
Now comes the fun part of adding accessiores to your new "toy"...

Guys, the true "sickness" doesn't begin until you buy a real Harley. Now go out and get the real reason you bought your HD F150's.....

Enjoy your toys!!!

If these were only built as 4x4's. Then I would go get one. New Hampshire winters sort of kill the idea of spending 32K for something that wont go in the snow.... My Harley and Cobra already do that....

I'm living in Southern California...Irvine specifically. #09134. Anyone know how many we're being made? I'm assuming it's 10k, but that's a guess.

I actually had a dream a few weeks ago about this truck as well as driving a Harley bike. Odd for me, 'cuz I've never been much of a motorcycle guy, though I do like the looks of some Harley's.

I think the dream was sparked by a show I watched on the Discovery Channel featuring some guy here in Long Beach that makes custom bikes (can't remember his name). The bikes were awesome.

I think I've already been bitten by the mod bug (been looking at exhaust systems), but the first thing going on is Lojack and probably an alarm system. I've been instructed by the wife that I can't drive this to work (100 miles round trip) until I get Lojack.

I suppose I can live with that...maybe.

I still can't get over the fact that I finally bought one. This is my first new vehicle in 12 years!!!

well 12K for 2002. In 2000 they made 8197, 2001 they made around that amount, not sure exactly, and 02 scheduled to make 12K, but probalby wont' be exact. Hopefully they don't keep upping the number made each year.

Also, not sure how the black/gray combo is split.

SVT2205,
I got both Harleys (truck and bike) and gotta tell you I'm having a lot more fun with the truck right now. Maybe because it's new and I've had the bike a few years.

I also get a lot more looks when I drive the truck than the bike.

Here in NorCal where I live (home of the Hell's Angels, Arlen Ness, and Hollister) there are a lot of Harley bikes (custom and stock) so everyone is used to seeing them. There still aren't too many HD F150s around.

356,
You are probably right. I bought mine off someone on one of the forums and I thought he said they were 2.5 inch shackles. They look exactly like yours. I looked at your pics when you installed.

Better go change my sig.

Think you need to change yours too. It shows a future mod to lower the rear 2". Didn't you already to this or are you going lower?

Yeah, i think 2" is the biggest rear shackle they make. Anyway, thanks for the sig update reminder. I'll do that now.
