insulation under the hood?

Question insulation under the hood?

just looked and didnt see any...im thinking its missing but not sure...dont most cars and trucks have a layer of some type of fabric to insulate for noice and whatever...just curious if anybody had noticed this..

Noise doesn't seem to be an issue. Don't think you would want insulation as this would keep heat in.

Don't want that hot air going back into the engine now do you

Im pretty sure the insulation is to protect the paint on the top of the hood from discoloring due to excessive heat...not to insulate noise

i've heard its to protect the paint, keep noise down, and also have heard if there's a fire the tabs will melt and it will fall and act as a fire blanket. Whichever is true, alot of guys take them off if they have them, cuz they are ugly, and don't have any problems so i wouldn't worry about it.

thanks guys.... im glad it is not missing..this is the answer central for us newcomers...my supercrew was a fine truck...this one has great potential...im still in the honeymoon stage...still kicking the tires ,so to speak
