Question Rock chips on bumper

The paint on the bumper cover seems brittle, it dosen't seem to have the give or elasticity that other plastic bumpers on other cars I have owned. I got a chip on my front bumper and it seems like it will spread at the edges, like it's not adhering to the plastic. On the '02 Ram I traded in, when it would get hit it would knick, not chip, It almost seemed like the plastic was silver all the way through. I guess my question is, is there any way to stop it from speading? How about putting that clear ruberized coating they put on rocker panels over the bumpers?

Unhappy Bumper paint

The same thing happened to my 02 HD. Rock chips on the bumper and lower valence spread whenever I washed it. I went through a drive through car wash and one of the spots chiped off the size of a quater. I took it back to the local ford dealer and they repainted the whole lower valence and bumper under warranty. They called it defective sealant.

ONe of these will greatly cut down on rock chips and bug guts on long road trips and if you do alot of highway traveling. Doesn't rub at all. goes on and off quickly. Top notch cover. Piece for the hood tooo but i don't use it cuz the HD bugguard. If you're interested in getting one, email me and i'll give you the guy's email that has them. He has to custom order them cuz the HD valance. I just use it for long trips and heading to shows. I wish i got it earlier. Good price too. And also, he is getting in bra's for the mirrors.

I just purchased a new item, well new to me, called clear bra by e-pel. I have friend that used it on his cars and I couldn't even tell it was on. It's a cool idea, thin & invisable, but pricy. However, if it well protect my costly "TOY" it's worth it.
Just thought I would throw out my 2 cents worth.

yeah i saw some of that stuff on a website before. Pricey aint the word! For that price i could just use my HD bra for highway trips and buy a few mods also. I don't think its worth it, but thats just IMO. The HD bra also has a screen for the grille to keep the bugs out which the stick on plastic bra won't . Just my .02$ Post pics and how the install goes when ya put it on. Thats gotta be a PITA to get that stuff on without any bubbles and stuff.
