Thanks, Slingshot. I did find a mod where someone removed the whole airbox and fabricated a ring for the existing filter and reinstalled that. Don't know if I want to go that route tho.

What if I made the mods to the airbox but did not change the filter yet? Would that make any difference? I'm gonna go check out Autozone now and look into the K&N.

maybe just a little less hp with the paper filter. The cotton gauze filters (K&N or AF1) flow like 50% more air.

Thanks, Harley. In fact, someone is offering to sell me their AF1. Only thing is I will lose the stock airbox with the nice logo on it so I'm contemplating what to do. The mod Slingshot recommends sounds like the best of both worlds so I just may go that route.

hmm. could that be ken? .

Anyway, i know what ya mean. I didn't do the air box mod on my truck because IMO it looks like $#!+ on the regular 5.4L's. Just a chopped up job, and the s/c ones you don't really notice anything's done by looking at it, cuz its only cut on the bottom. The AF1 looks much nicer with the chrome tube for the non s/c and i enter in shows so that helps. On the s/c 5.4's, i like that "powered by ford" emblem. WIsh i had one on mine. But i saw one guy with a L that got an aftermarket intake, and then took his emblem and heated it to bend to that curved thing over on the passenger side by the fire wall with all the wires coming out of it. Looked good.

hope all goes well with the mod.

very nice. I'm suprised that the intake doesn't have a bigger filter though

TB is nice with the script on it too
