Nail in tire....does it ever stop???
Damn, i was working on fixing the boo-boo on the bottom of the passenger side of my bumper (pics and full story on that to come soon
) and i happened to look over at the tread of the tire. I see this brown thing in the tread, and go to pull it out, thinking its a rock or a stick, and its a friggin nail stuck in there. Just my luck. Fixing one problem, and run into another. I had to take it up to the gas station and they put a plug in it, so luckily, i can save the tire, but it was close, cuz the nail was almost in the sidewall. Happy though, cuz it would look kind of weird with one new style tire, and 3 old style ones. Also happy that they could patch it cuz i have a show 2morrow. Talk about embarassing going to a judged show with a spare tire on, waiting for a tire to arrive in stock.
I just don't have good luck at all. the day before echelon auto show, my battery died, and it was pouring rain and i had to push the truck to the other side of the drive and jump it. At pitman, it rained the day before the show after i got the truck ready. Now before this show, the lower valance gets damaged and i had to fix that and paint part of it, and then i get a nail in the tire, and to top this day off, its rained 3 times after i washed the truck, so i've had to dry it off every time adn will probably rain again tonight. I just don't understand all this rain. Were's supposedly in a drought. Every time i have a show to get ready for, it rains the day before after the truck's done, and then a day or two after the show, just enough to get it nastly looking. I should change my screen name to the droughtbuster. lol
wish me better luck for 2morrow at the show. lol

Hey 356,
Sorry to hear about the tire. Glad you could salvage it these babies aren't cheap. About the rain, sounds like you need to move to a drier climate. LOL
You need to get yourself a garage too

LoL, yeah i really want a garage, or at least a carport.
but i'm happy the tire's still good. I still have about 20K more miles left on them, which is about 2 years.

Hey #356..... CANCEL THE BOTTLED WATER REQUEST since we have plenty now. I can't even go out and change my fog lights without my scuba gear, wait a minute, I don't own any scuba gear.
Later #356 and stay out the lumbar yards! LMAO

ANyway, here's the pics of the bumper damage. I wasn't driving this when it happened, and the dumb a$$ (who will stay unnamed) pulled over a curb too high. Scraped up the plastic and paint and all. Its only on the passenger side, but you could see it standing up from about 15 feet away, so it had to be fixed
BEFORE:

DURING: sanded, painted 3 light coats, wet sanded, 2 medium coats, wet sanded, compounded, clear coated, and compounded again, then glassed a few times.

AFTER: one coat of clear. You can still see the tape line and some tape fibers in the pic, but i compounded the step down and the tape line is practically gone, and no tape fibers. lol. I'm going to do a few more coats of clear to get it to a matching gloss. Little orange peel, but looks 100x's better than the scratches though. BTW, trucks dirty so thats what all the spots are on teh bumper. lol
