good mods?

I'm sure this has been answered before but here it goes. I've got a 02' Harley-Davidson F-150 and was wondering what all the mods are to get it moving really fast would be and what order I should get them in.

Exclamation Well....

When I do purchase mine this will be the way I "plan" on doing it...

1. JDM Cold Air Kit
2. JDM Full Exhaust System
(3-6 I will do at the same time so I can have my chip burnt correctly)
3. 6# lower pulley, you have the option to go with 2,4,6 or even an 8#
4.JDM Flip Chip
5.Tranny Valve Body
6. Single Blade Throttle Body

Hmm Im sure others can add more, I will probably be out of the green before mod 3 LMAO but thats my basic setup. Hope this helps some... Most guys will agree JDMis a great place to get bolt ons. Good Luck and Congrats on the purchase

I think that if i was you Jro Id get the valve body before the larger pullies. It will do wonders for your tranny and shifts. Ive got it and love it. But hey Ive got a bunch of stuff already done.
Im still trying to figure out how to add a list of mods to my sig. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

Mods

I'd wait a while on the exhaust system for increased HP. The pulley / chip / inlet stuff should be done first. The factory exhaust is pretty good as is. The main reason for changing it would be to make it louder. Don't expect much HP gain. You might consider visiting the dyno to get a baseline run before you spend your $$$ on mods. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. But I hear all this talk about pully's and nothing more about them. Big, smaller, the top or the bottom. Can someone clear everything up for me?

for more power, you want to go bigger at the bottom, and smaller at the top. Just don't want to go too small up top because it can increase the chance of belt slippage. The HD's have a slightly bigger upper pulley than the L's, which accounts for the 2 less pounds of boost on the HD's. You can pretty much switch the upper to a L pulley without any problems, as long as its done right so it doesn't damage teh s/c. I know there are a few guys on here with 02 HD's and 8 lb lower pulleys.

good luck. and enjoy your new truck

My suggestions:
  • rear shackles--even out the stance and get the a$$-end out of the air...
  • K&N panel filter and free airbox mod... best $40 you'll ever spend--gain 10-12 rwhp and the sound is awesome
  • all at once--6 or 8 lb lower pulley (remember, you're not gonna actually gain that much on an HD due to the larger upper pulley... I gained from 6.5 up to 12.5-13 on my truck with the 8 lber), chip (I highly recommend the Diablo... more powerful tuning platform than the SuperChip... no Autologic tuning available for our trucks yet), colder plugs, cooler thermostat
  • Factory Tech valve body for the tranny--love it!
  • appearance and handling mods of your choice
  • I added a Magnaflow muffler... probably picked up very little power (if any), but the sound is great
Good luck and happy modding!

Thumbs up

I did the 6 lb pulley, diablo chip, new plugs, air box from JLP. Great improvements and highly recommended. Have fun with the plugs. Will need lots of bandaids.

Question

Tell me if this sounds right to you all. I have the 02 with K & N air filter, I cut my air box to get more air flow and installed my Diablo chip and cut the muffler off and installed an X pipe and I'm seeing 8.5 to 9 pounds of boost on my auto meter boost gauge.

Ketchu,
What did you use to get to the rear plugs? Im 6'2" 230lbs of muscle and bone (and a little fat) and my hands arent petit enough to fit back there. What do you recomend? Ive tried and failed. Could you lend me a hand? A small one!

Question Ketchnu?

Dont know if I have asked you this already but your setup is close to what I want to go with as far as pulley and stuff, have you had a chance to dyno after the mods and all? If you have or have any track times would you please post so I can have some baseline on what to go with. Thanks man

The best way to do the plug change is to remove the fuel rails to get to the back ones. Have plenty of band-aids and plenty of adapters for your sockets. It is also best to tighten the nuts down to 7 lbs torque.
