Unhappy Wrecked my Baby!

The wreck happened on the 3rd but I'm just now able to tell what happened. Coming home I passed 2 suburbans on a straight stretch that went into a curve, as I was slowing down in the curve there was a car right where my truck was wanting to slide over. I tried to hold it in my lane but the road was damp and my rear end got out from under me sliding over and glazing the cars rearview mirror, then I spun across the highway off in the ditch until I came to a sudden stop at the tree line because of all the rocks and dirt that had piled up, throwing me across the truck and breaking the passenger seat armrest into my girlfriends lap. The drivers side looks okay but the passenger side took all the damage. My rear wheel was bent and broke and laying flat on the ground, the rear end and accel was totally destroyed. The fender was busted and the door would not shut right, chrome bar was pushed under the truck and the front tire was blown out ripping the foglight out, there was so much impact that the top of the bed and the cab hit each other leaving a big dent and scratch. There was some more stuff like busted windshield that I think was broke by my back when I was thrown up in the corner of the truck. This would have been a lot easier with pics but believe me it's not pretty, I won't know until tomorrow how much damage was done, but I will keep everyone updated. This was kinda like a bad dream I couldn't believe that it was all happening! Oh and by the way it was a very tricky curve with the posted 25 mph sign that I obviously didn't read, I was probably doing about 60!

Wow, i'm so sorry to hear about that terrible experience and i hope all goes well. At least you and your gf are okay. Its a shame about the truck. I'm assuming you weren't buckled? Is the truck totalled? or are you gonna have it fixed? If its just going to the junkyard, i say strip it of HD parts and sell them if unfortunatley the poor baby can't be repaired. I'd cry if i saw a HD like that. I pray it never happens to mine (knock on wood) or anybody else for that matter. Well, i wish you the best of luck getting it fixed, and hope you and you gf are aight. keep us updated on the situation. if you do get it fixed, take some before and after pics. Good luck

Thanks a lot guys!

It is sad to see it in that condition. I will find out today if it is totalled or not. I'll keep everyone posted!

I would never say that. If you're saying 60, than it's really more like 65 or 70. I'm sure your insurance company would like to know this info.

Insurance Company!

I'm sure that they would like to know. Took some pics today and the estimate to fix it is $11,000, which my insurance company will gladly cover. I'm just glad that they can fix it and hope the it rides the same. I do get 2 new wheels, all 4 new tires, new pass. side chrome bar, new fender and some more stuff but it sucks to know now that it has been wrecked.

what a bummer! I've never owned a pickup before but on slick roads I have learned to baby the turns and stay off the brakes--same on gravel which I rarely drive with the '00 but accelerating out of a turn can be fun but very squirrly--too much torque. Winter driving is a good driving test--I put 350# in the back with grippier General m/s tires and the back end will still swivel. It's interesting how many pickups up here in the snowbelt end up ditched after the first snowfall--and these are experienced snow drivers. It happens to everyone--you get caught in a situation you and your vehicle can't control. Congrats tho on keeping your '00 alive
