Post The infamous X-plan ?

Guys, just got an email back from a local dealer here saying that the X plan is non negotiable, and wont work with other rebate offers... Is this true? I was under the impression most would be that they honor both.... Well just wanted to see if I could pick these X plan gurus brains for a bit. Thanks guys

X Plan and rebates

OK - so part of that statement is true. The price IS non-negotiable, as it is set by Ford. However, I bought my SD on X plan, and was eligible for all rebates and incentives.

On the plus side, this means that any dealer that honors X plan pricing will give you the same price on an identically equipped vehicle. So - if one dealer is giving you the runaround on rebate eligiblity, go to another.

The dealer should have a book that lists all rebates and incentives. Ask to see the book. When I was shopping around last year, the dealer told me that A Plan at that time had a special rebate of $700 and showed me the book. Not too shabby. But I think it's all pretty much seasonal and I think the rebates are thrown in near the end of the model year to get people to buy so it's conceivable that right now, no rebates are offered for A or X Plan.

From: Tampa, FL, or Memphis TN... depends.
My parents recently bought a Lincoln on A-Plan and got another 7k back in rebates from Ford as well.

Your Dealership/Salesperson is either F'n with you or doesn't know his ____ from an exhaust pipe.

My disclaimer to this is that sometimes certain specific models do not have those incentives. Something in the back of my head is telling me my sales guy looked it up and the HD did not. I wasn't so worried about it as I got my HD for $31,350.

I've been pricing HDs and three different dealers have told me there are no rebates right now. One even showed me the sheets. A few months back, Bud Brady Ford in Cleveland was offering $700 back to A/Z/X planners on any model. That's gone.

If you build an HD on forddirect.com, it'll even tell you there are no rebates available. You might be able to get the college graduate rebate ($400), but my computer here is crappy and kept zoning out when I tried to apply it.

Anybody know any other ways to get the x-plan for a normal "Joe?" I get a new car every six to eight months at pretty good deals, but not as cheap as the "plans."

Buying a car or truck today is almost like buying stocks in the stock market. You could get one price and then the next day overnight get another price. Ford can change the window sticker overnight and its another price, yes I said they change the window sticker. Ford sends the dealers (overnight mail) new window stikers that someone goes out to the vehicle and switches the sticker. its true, you just have to have right timing! they are doing nothing wrong. Usually if they change the price, they are lowing the price.

Rebates and incentives change almost daily, too. The dealer when they are making the deal, check online with Ford thru something called "Vincent" or something, one day you can get one rebate and the next you can get another, or they can take them away too. Oh ya you can stack rebates too. you can get one for a lease turn in and then another for end of year close out and another for collage grad, yes you can get them all at one time.

One more thing

never rely on the salesman, HE KNOWS NOTHING,
the managers keep it that way, most do not know any of the rebates and incentives available and they dont know anything till they check online with Ford so how would any sales man know all the incentives from over night

another thing
two trucks look like the same truck could have two difrent incentives cause one might be on the lot longer then the other.

your dealing and theres no way to know all the deals out there

your best bet is to find someone you think is honest and deal with them and just assume they are not honest!!!!!!!! Its only cause they dont know and they are making you think they know!
because in my opinion they are "out to get ya"
This is the real reason most want to sell you the vehicle when your "just looking" and not when YOU want to buy.

That $1K is only supposed to be for the regular SCrews. Someone will have to eat that $1K. If you signed the contract (or paid cash), then you should be OK.

As before, how do I gets me one of them plans? Any secrets. Seems like everybody and his brother are getting them but me.

SuperSCrew_820,
Ya, I know. When he told me about the $1K rebate I never said a word.

I get X-plan through my company.

i bought my 02 hd in early may on d plan which is for certified ford or lincoln mercury dealership employees that have been employed for more than 6 months.i paid $32150 for mine is has moonroof, flip out thing in the bed,and a cd changer in the console.sticker was 38,300
when i got mine there was no rebates or special interest rates
availble on the hd everything but the hd!!!!!!i went to the dealer
when they first came out and they told me to go scratch.a month
later when they still had several they took the easy sale.
p.s. as far as the window sticker changing i've been working
for either ford or lincoln mercury dealers for 16 years and i've
never heard of them changing window stickers!!!!!!!!maybe
adding an addition markup or limited availibilty mark- up

you can check all special rebates or interest rates on ford.com

Well they do change the window sticker, the sticky part peals right off and they dont even clean the window and they put the new sticker right on, sometimes you can see the outline of the old sticky part of the old window sticker,
Btw
if you did not know, you can peal away the window sticker from the sticky part of the window sticker when you buy the vehicle. I have a bunch saved, even leases I turned in.

The last vehicle that I know they changed the window sticker on was the expidition, they had some kind of package deal that they lowered the price and gave the rebate and lower interest.

it was to try to sell the things when gas prices were like almost $2.00 a gallon. now to think about it, gas coming back up again.
