Cool 285/50/20 ???

Has anyone exchanged the 275/45/20 stock tires for a tire a bit wider such as a 285/50/20.

This will save our wheels from curbs. The added width in tire will eat the curb instead of the chrome wheel.

50 series tires wil be quite a bit taller. i think one guy put on 275 50s. he said they were an inch taller overall. that will throw off the speedo a bit. but i believe they worked well for him. if you want wider and not a taller profile i would look at 295 45 20 most companys make this size. let me know what you end up with because i will be in the market for tires soon.

285/50/20 - 31.2" tall / 11.2" wide- $140.00
295/40/20 - 29.3" tall / 12" wide - $300.00
305/40/20 - 29.6" tall 12" wide - $250.00

plus they are v - 149 rated instead of h rated 130

Sorry, but a 295/40-20 is gonna be taller than a 275/40-20... not shorter.

yep, i fat fingered it - 275/40/20 - 28.7"

but we have 275/45/20 - 29.7"

295/40/20 would be a good choice it is 29.3"

not too expensive either.

after my wheels were stolen i put 295/40/20
goodyear eagle ultra hp it rides great and handles
better i payed $242 each.i also have lightning shocks
on all 4 corners and 2" drop shackles in rear.i'm waiting
for a hellwig rear sway bar from summit.the truck sits
really nice with the 295's and the shackles!

I have Good Year Eagle LS -275/55/20 on my truck. Had my speedometer reprogrammed by the dealer. I can send pics.
(Looks much better than the stock & fills the wheel wells like a pickup should)
