This is interesting, I was browsing Edmunds.com looking at the 03 models and noticed they had the F150 listings but I didn't see the HD, the King Ranch was listed with both body styles. They were still showing the 02 L listing so I guess Ford is holding out until all the 02 specialty vehicles are sold.

Yeah, they haven't released the 03 HD's or 03 L's. Info about the 03 L's has leaked out, but as for the 03 HD, nobody's heard anything yet. I doubt anybody will hear anything before the sema show. Thats when the 02 was revealed last year. (late october). So i don't think we'll find out anything before then.

If I'm not mistaken, I remember that the HD's come out at the end of the production year ('01 HD came out just before the intro of the '02 regular F150). The '03 HD shouldn't be out until the Q4/'02 or Q1/'03.

 

They started making 00 HD's at the mid-end of april. Mine was built on may 18th (#356). Since it was the 1st year and low production, these trucks were wanted. Some dealers had 10K markups and were getting them. My dealer offered to buy mine back for 10K over invoice cuz they didn't realize the demand here in jersey for them before they sold it to me. ANyway, they were basically a mid year public release. The 01's were released in the beginning of 01, and some 00's were still on the lots, and the prices dropped some cuz 2 years being out. And so they made less profit cuz less demand. The 02 HD was unvieled on October 30th 2001 at the Sema Show. The 01's were done and mostly sold, and the 02's were arriving on dealers lots around feb/march/april-somewhere around there. So almost a mid year vehicle. The 03 will most likely be revealed in october of this year at the sema show, and they'll start taking orders in like january again, and be released probably around march, just like this year went. That's why ford is putting a cap on the numbers of 02's made, so they can hopefully sell all the 02's before the 03's are out and can create their own market.

 

Here in Iowa the law requires a front plate This picture was taken the same day I bought the truck and it still had the dealer plate on the front. Instead of taking off the free advertisement for the picture I just photochopped it out.
