Cool Vette to HD!!!

This the first time I have posted here, but have read for over a year. I have been an avid corvette owner for over 8 years, and I just sold my '00 Millenium Yellow Coupe in preparation for a '02 or '03 HD. I drove one finally the other day, and all I can say is WOW!! It's not a vette, but it's pretty impressive for a truck. Looks and performance. I have drove L's before and love them infact I was thinking of buying an L, but I love the extra space that the HD gives, hell, I think the first mod I am going to make is to turn that back seat center console into a cooler I just thought I would drop a line and say hi, now that I have the fever. I wonder if I am the only 1 to convert. I am trying to work a deal on one before mid August because for any of you in the midwest who know about the Woodward Ave Dream Cruise, I want to unveil mine there.

Anyway, I will have some questions as to the best place to get my mods when I get closer. Definitely an exhaust, I was looking at a Gibson Super Truck, I had one on my '98 F150 Nascar Ed. and it sounded awesome, so with the bigger engine this thing should be incredible. Then lowering, new hood, sway bar, chip, air induction. That' a good start. If I could hit mid to low 13's with this setup, that will do for now

I am in Columbus, OH, anyone out there from same location?

George,

I trade my '98 C5 in about three weeks ago. Already have put on a sway bar and dropped the rear 2". Dual Ram Air from Johnny Lightning is in transit as we speak and I am about to order some more stuff today. Welcome to the Neighborhood.

WOW, a Ford truck stealing Vette customers from GM. Tsk,tsk, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. (j/k) Must be one hell of a truck!

George, I, like you have taken note of Ford's latest muscle-truck (I hesitate to call it a "sport" truck, because everthing that says "sport" on it really ain't all that fast). While I've never been a big Ford fan (mostly GMs and a few Mopars), I have to admit that I'm quite impressed w/ the '02 HD. In fact, when the time comes that I out-grow my CC-R/T, the only way I'd go is w/ a '02 (or '03??) HD.

While there are some neat muscle-trucks coming from GM (SS Silverado) and Dodge (SRT-10), they both lack the things I need / want. The SRT-10 lacks seating for 4+, and it sounds like the SS is only going to be a re-badged C3 Sierra (nowhere near enough accleration for me). I KNOW for sure I could build myself the ultimate family-sized muscle truck if given enough time (a V10 in a lowered quad-cab Ram comes to mind, or a blower on just about any other lowered 4-door V8 pickup). But I doubt that it could be done for less overall cost (not even considering the cost of the time involved) than the '02 HD. And time to tinker in the garage is something I don't have near enough of. Besides, all those neat HD badges and trim are all icing in the cake!!

Talking

I have always been a GM guy for sports car, but always a Ford truck guy. Plus I LOVE sport trucks, and there just aren't many choices without building one yourself, like you said convenience is to buy one. For me the HD has it all, looks, decent speed, and room, so why not buy one.

I actually just got off the phone with the local dealer, and it sounds like I could come in around $35k for a new 2002 HD, has all options, is that decent or push for more. I am going to push, just don't know how much more they will move.

If I can save a grand, that's another grand for MODS

George

I just got off work and there sat a box from JLP. Looks like I will be installing the ram air tonight. Oh what fun it is to mod. BTW, I also placed another order, too. JLP has got to love me cause I am up to $2,000 and not done yet. All the majorly fun stuff should be here next week.
