Engine Bay Cleaning

I know this was posted before, but what kind of stuff do you guys use to clean your engine bays? I have a car show on june 15th, so i'm starting to get ready. Its gonna be a big one. 544 cars expected to come. They said that every 1 in 3 should get a trophy because of the way they set up the classes. I registered my HD in stock 1990 to 2002 class, and i should have a pretty good chance of getting something. Its at the Echelon mall in NJ. Anybody from here going? would be cool to meet with some fellow members.

A little off topic, but here's a pic from clonetek's gallery. I had to print it out and give it to my friend who's got a riced CRX. LoL. Thanks clonetek

Sponge and paintbrush.

I use a sponge and paintbrush with the same car wash soap that i use to wash my car. Then use the same brush and sponge w/ clean water to rinse. Dont spray water direct, it makes a mess. I dont recommend any of that protectant s hit. All that does is cause build up to form quicker. If the plastics are clean you shouldnt need any of it anyways. Ive also noticed alot of guys in shows adding a bunch of chrome or billet pieces to the engine bay to pull your eyes away from the rest of the engine. Pretty good idea if you ask me. My 2 cents.

yup, sponge would do, don't use too much of those shinning solutions because any type of dust sticks to them easily and its just going to be a pain in the butt to clean it off next time when another car show rolls around.

on June 15th we're having a BBQ-meet up in Bear Mountain NY... many of the North Jersey, NY and even some CT Stangers, Lightning and Cobra owners are going to come... its gonna be cool.

Hey Josh I wish you could come to our meet at JDM Engineering that I'm trying to put together... I'm not very good at putting shows on by myself so I've asked some people from the SVTOA and Central Jersey Mustangs Club that I know to help me out and set up the meet for their club members, this way we'll have a major showing... Its gonna be towards the end of the next month sometime. Maybe you could join a couple of the Lightning owners in the convoy up north since there are a few guys from South Jersey area that wanted to come last time, but unfortunately we got rained out...

Hey Jerzey, I am right here in Hawthorne. I was wondering if you put up some more info on that BBQ in Bear Mountain. Are HD owners welcome or is it just Lightnings and Cobra 'Stangs? Do you have a photo gallery?

Hey buddy, Hawthorne is very close, heh... I go thru there to go to the Wednesday Night Cruise's in Wyckoff (at the old A&P/Walgrees shopping center, by the DMV)

The Bear Mountain BBQ is open to everyone! Ever since I started my registries for my Lightning friends I've been trying to do more joint meets with Lightnings and Cobras since it seems either one side was somewhat jelous of each other... it seems to me they got over it now, but you should still see some reactions we get at the meets, when you hear a Cobra owner say outloud: "Oh, geezz, another Lightning pulling in, they're beating us number wise already" LOL.... I love hearing that because all the Lightning people I've met on this board and NLOC boards are awesome people and come out in great numbers to the local events!

ok, I just started babbling above, but anyway here's what I was trying to get, Harley Davidson F150 owners have awesome trucks and I would like to see them come join our local events so you are certainly more than welcome to come.

the guys on StangNet.com are still trying to set up the details for the meet so at this point I'm only certain about the date, June 15th. the time is still up in the air but we usualy have them at noon to four or so, its a lot of chit chat and the more people come the longer we'd stay, or maybe go for a cruise around those twisty roads by the seven lakes. I know Ken with the 2000 Cobra R would be leaving around 12 to 1'ish from his place in Wyckoff I would possibly hook up with him, so if you wanted to ride with us there that would be cool.... I must say though that you'd probably like to drive behind my Crown Vic, since Ken's BFGoodrich tires are so grippy they pic up every small rock on the road you can or can't even see, and you'd hate to have dings in your bumper... heh!

Besides this BBQ, many of us from the area attend local cruise nights. For example yesterday me and one of my Cobra buddies went to the Lyndhurst car show on Wall St by the Smokey Cafe (whatever the actual name is, we didn't focus on the name as much as on the cute waitress that was serving us, LOL) that happens every Saturday night from 6 to 9.... and like I mentioned on Wednesdays there's the Wyckoff cruise on Park Ave, also 6 to 9.... Both shows have mostly old classic cars, but with a healthy mix of late model american muscle! A couple of new Vipers, Cobras and Vettes.

Its nice to go there with other people since (or at least for me) its boring to wanter around alone... so if you'd like ot meet up there, I'm game.
