Ok, guy's here's some food for debate. I can get a decent deal on an 02 now. So far I have the dealer down to 34,500. on a black HD with moonroof. What find of deal did you guys make? Most of the local dealers are still trying to get full sticker.
Since I already have a garage full of trucks, I'm only buying an HD for a spare vehicle, that will see very little use. I am considering waiting on an 03 to see if they up the HP/TQ and maybe offer another color.
The problem is I am afraid the 02's will be gone before I can confirm any info on the 03's. What a delima this is. Anyone have any input?

 

I know the pain...I have the same problem - Actually this is what happened with me last year

I was trying to decide whether or not to get '01 or '02 but we didn't know what was in store for '02 until it was too late to buy a '01. So I took my chances and got a '01...now they supercharged it.

Now i don't know whether to trade-in for '02 or wait for '03. Why can't Ford just tell us what's happening?

 

Buy a new on each year. That's what I did.

 

Sell some crack, and collect all three. THEN wait for '03.

N2TRUX, if you can't decide between a 02 and 03, i'd say wait a few months. The 03 will probably be revealed in october for the Sema show, and by then you should be able to order a 03, or find a lonely 02 on a lot, or maybe a used 02. (maybe #34's used 02 if he trades it in on a 03 ) Any way, each year they keep adding new things on the truck. such as s/c, colors, going from extended cab to crew cab. I still like my 00 the best outta all 3 years so far, but the other ones are still very awsome. Top 3 best lookin trucks on the road, and the L makes it in the top 4 IMO. Anyway, next year is ford and harley's 100th anniversary, so the 03's should be a little extra special. I'd say definatly wait, cuz then you may be kicking yourself in the @ss if you get a 02, and the 03 blows your mind for some reason, but i know how you feel though waiting to get a HD. When i tried to get my 00, ford credit was trying to say that they repossessed my car and i went bankrupt on my house, but neither ever happened, and i had the car and the title in my hands. It took 3 days to clear everything up, and i was so anxious and scared that i might not end up getting the HD. But i just say wait it out and be the 1st one on here with a 03 HD. Good luck deciding

I did not have a 00. The caravan pic you saw was from the "Toughest Ride" which was sponsored by Ford and Harley-Davidson. The host was Jay Leno. We took a two hour route down the coast of California and ended up near a military veteran’s facility where we listened to live music, had great food, and had chances to win several prizes including a Harley Dyna rider.

 

Hmm? It looks like this thread gained a hitchhiker at the bottom. Well, I'm still up in the air. I'm thinking if the 03's are a special edition, the price is going to buzz on up. Since I haven't owned a Ford in years, maybe I should get broke in on a fair (?) priced truck before I choke on what the dealers will be getting next year.
I guess I just need another test drive

 

Everything now is only rumors. I have heard that they might make the HD a F-250 or possibly F-350. . .but remember. . .this is all speculation.

 

yeah, everything is rumors, you can't go by what anybody says until the actual truck comes out because there are soOOOOOOOO many rumors that spread very quickly. But all the 03 fords will probably have a sticker on the back window that says 100 years or something like that, like all f150's did in 98 for 50 years of f series. I just think it would be a little extra special to have a HD truck AND it being a 100th anniversary model year. You will still be able to find 02 by the time the 03 is revealed, cuz the 02 was revealed in october last year and didn't really come out until like march or april, and you could still find 01's around on lots. But its all up to you, let us know what you decide

 

Actually the fleet manager I bought mine from is a good friend and he said Harley just signed an agreement with Ford thru 2005. He also told me the F150 is going thru a restyle next year so I guess if you have to have the latest and greatest you might want to wait.

BTW, I bought mine for $33,500.00 through the Ford X-plan. It has all avaliable factory installed options. Couldn't pass it up

 

I bought my truck for almost exactly what you are paying.
I am in Ohio.

I assume you got all the options - I think they only make the trucks with all the options. 6-disc changer, moon roof, sliding rear window, heated seat, tailgate extender.

The only option my truck has not got is the engine heater.
sticker was around $38,200 or somthing close I forgot.

The dealer here had a Hail storm and they had about 8 of them with very slight damage - they are selling them for $32,000
there are a few very slight dings on the hood some very hard to see.

Ricart Ford in Ohio - it is the biggest ford dealer in the world.

There is a shop up here that takes out the dings without body work, for a couple hundred dollars.

It may be worth your whal!
Also that is an excuse to get a ram air hood!

 

Just some thoughts!
One more thing 03's are not a major body style change so if you buy one now you will still have a current looking body style for another year and half, also the HD's come out later than the other modles.

If you buy next years It will be out of style prety quick and that means a major devaluation of your vechicle.

So I would buy one now or wait for the 04"s with the new body style - but a HD may be late in the year so It could be 2 1/2 years, a long time to wait.

 

True it does come out late, but if you wait, you'll only have to wait until october when its revealled at the sema show, and then ya can decide whether to get a 02 (should be some still on the lots) or wait until the 03 is released to public (probably march/april). Personally, if i didn't have a 00 HD (1st year of series and rarest ) i would wait for a 03 cuz it would be 100th anniversary. I wouldn't care if the redesigned f150's come out in late 03 as 04 models. Thats IF they even make HD's in 04. I would think that they would end it in 03 (five year alliance-the way i would count it --99-design 1st HD, make 00, 01, 02, 03). But i'm just making suggestions. Do whatever ya want, just trying to help.
