Exhaust Upgrades For Hdf150

What are some upgrades for the exhaust systems for the HDF150's? I want to re-use the factory tips, but want it louder.
I know someone put a Flowmaster 40 series on theirs. I called Flowmaster & they said they do not have an application for the HDF150 & they must have customized it. I have a friend that put a Borla on his Lightning, but used the Borla tips. I want to definitely use the stock tips. Any suggestions?

Borla has the split rear (duals) catback available.
Is anyone going to change to split rear exit?
or keep the original concept

Talking getlucky

Good afternoon. I just picked up my Harley last Thursday. I couldn't stand listening to you all any more, so I had to go get one. Any way. I just got back from the muffler shop. I took off the stock muffler and replaced it with a X pipe. Sounds pretty good, not much louder than stock at idle ,but get into it and she comes to life. I'm lowering it tonight so wish me luck.

lucky4770,

Any chance you could post a pic of your exhaust setup?

I say replace your muffler with a Magnaflow...It's easy, cheap, and should give you better sound and a few more horsies to go along with it

As soon as I get a photo of it I will do my best. I had my wife rev up the motor and she sounds good. Not as good as my jet boat but it will do.

Thumbs up

I went with the magnaflow (12568) DI /DO muffler..Now I'm getting a much better sound, more power, and also got the benefit of a X pipe (It's internal to the muffler).
BTW keep my stock tail pipes and tips...

I replaced the muffler in my '01 Harley with Flowmaster 50 last year. I originally wanted Flowmaster 40 but the guy at the muffler shop said that it would not fit. I think what he meant was FM40 is shorter overall than FM50 so the shop would have to weld an additional length of pipe to make it all fit. I went with FM50 and overall, I was very satisfied. While driving, you can't really tell unless you really stomp on it, but a few times I had my fiancee drive it with me standing outside, it sounded awesome.
