Exclamation HD Bra (and 3m pel???)

I need help..... Every year i go on a missionary trip to kentucky with my church and two other churches from north jersey, (i'm in south jersey). We go to Red Bird Mission camp in beverly Kentucky. well long story short, this year all but one of the drivers from s.j. have dropped out, and we only have one vehicle (15 passenger van) which means that if we wanna go on the trip, we need another driver, and some one with a pickup truck to haul the luggage. (even with 3 turtles on top of the van we still fill a pickup with gear and such) . So inorder to save the trip and not let everyone down, it looks like i'm going to have to take the HD on the 800 some mile trip down to beverly KY, and the 800 some mile trip back. I have no choice cuz i don't think my 85 can make it going at the pace we move at, and i don't wanna take the chance. I'm not too worried about getting the inside of the truck dirty, or even the bed cuz i have a hard tonneau and i'll make sure i have towels and such to protect the side walls from scratching with the suitcases and such, but i'm worried about my front air dam and fogs. Before we leave i'm gonnna buy front mud flaps to protect the nurf bars. (been wanting to get them anyway), and i wanted to get pel or 3m stuff that goes over the fogs to protect from cracking, and a front bra. All those hours on the highway and mountain roads, i don't wanna have to deal with millions of rock chips in my air dam, especially since i'm entering in 3 truck shows this summer and i wanna win 1st this year insead of second. I know 3M or pel? makes some stuff that you cut out and put over your fogs to protect from rocks cracking them and even clear stuff to put on your rockers to protect the paint, then ya can just peel them off when ya want to. Does anybody have the website to where i can get pel (sp?) or that 3m stuff? and has anybody tried it?

also, who's the guy i can get a front bra for my truck from? that would be great for the long highway trip, and hopefully not cost too much. his email is something like hard to get these@???. anybody know??? i'd really appreciate any help. were not going until july so i have some time. thanks for anyhelp i can get, i'm just tryin to keep my HD as nice as possible and the HD bra and pel stuff would be a huge help. thanks again

Thumbs down Tape dont work.

I used to use the tape when i would drive to miami and after about 5 trips i learned to except the fact that it doesnt work. The first trip was alright except that i had the fogs on one night while driven around the beach and didnt find out till two days later that the fog lenses get so hot they melt it to the glass. That was a bitch to get off. The last time I used it I got the driver side foglight busted on the way down. I think it was a pebble or something cause i didnt know until i got out to get gas and saw it. $135 to replace and It was a special order that took 2 wks to get and I still havent put it in. Its sitting in the garage in the box. maybe ill do that this weekend? But i wouldnt wasnt your money on that ****. Go to the dealer and find out who makes there tape. Ive got a buddy that works at a Honda dealer in miami he he got me two different types. One was like a chuck of solid foam between the tape (for the bumpers) and the other was like a sticky diaper but much bigger(for the doors). You can also get carpet protection tape or wood floor protection tape(stactic cling)that made so that it can come off with out damaging any anything. I buy it for jobsites if we are doing remodels and have used it on the side of my truck while working in the hood. I normally get it through a speciallty dist. but i think home depot carries it in smaller amounts. Good luck, and it probably wouldnt hurt to pray the night before.

Thumbs up HD Bra and 3M shield

Hi guys I've been reading a couple of comments on this Bra and 3M shield. Fist of all the 3M shield is a great product and they do not melt off from the foglights because I have them. I bought the 3M shield from the guy I bought my Harley Bra hrd2gethese I think? Anyway I have them on my 2003 SL 500 and 2001 S500 and they are a paint saver and have never encountered a problem. The headlight is made from a 25 mil plastic shield and the 3M for the paint is from 12mil I think. It is custom cut to the exact face template of the car so there is no cutting involved. They both do a great job it just all depends on how much you want to spend. Hope this helps. BW

Thanks for the pic 1JT. It looks good, but i have a bug deflector, what i want is a bra to cover the bumper and that guy has just what i want. 72 dollars including shipping for a once used complete front bra. Some other guy bought it and didn't want the liscense cut out, so he traded it in for one without the license plate hole. Since i need one with the cutout, i'm gonna get his one he returned for 1/2 price (was 130 dollars for a new one). I can't beat that. Used once and returned for a different model of the same bra. This will really help me out on that trip keeping rock scratches and bugs off my front end.

truckhogg, do you have the web address for the link to 3m headlight tape stuff? I just need a small piece for the two fogs, and i can cut it myself if they sell it cheaper that way.

Thanks alot guys for the help. I appreciate it.

Deacon, you have any pics of it on your truck? I've heard that they are top quality. I gotta wait for money to transferr into my paypal account before i can buy the cover. Anyway, any signs of rubbing anywhere? any suggestions for when i get it? thanks.

at least this trip gives me excuses to buy more accessories for my HD

Harley356,

It fits like a glove, just make sure you have plenty of wax oin your truck. I used mine to go to Fla and back with no problems. Best investment for paint protection. Sorry no pics as of yet..

harleyrules, post pics when you can get a gallery up. I'm glad that I hear it works great. and i can't beat 1/2 price for it. I don't use wax on my truck, i use liquid glass. It contains NO wax at all. Its kind of like a polish, and it actually bakes onto the finish. But i will be entering in a car show the saturday before i leave, so it will be glassed on the day befoe the show, so i should be good for the ride down to KY. Where are you at in NJ? do you ever head by Swedesboro?? (its in gloucster county) lol how bad is this, i can't even spell the county i live in. I'm sure i butchered that one. anyway, sorry for so many questions, but i don't have much else to do so i'm gonna ask a few more.
1. what's the cover actually made out of
2. whats on the backside of the cover
3. where and how does it attach?

thanks for the info.
