Geico is Great!

Recently I switched Insurance companies--Nationwide to Geico. It's strange, I had been with Nationwide for the last 14 years, and was receiving a discount for also having my homeowners insurance with them. Nationwide quoted me $582 every six months, while Geico said $455.

Now this is the GREAT part. I purchased a Honda last week to keep some of the miles off the truck, as well as to have something other than the truck to drive in the rain. So I call Geico up for liability insurance and this is what happens. We list the Honda as being my primary vehicle and list the HD as a pleasure vehicle. For both vehicles my six month premium is now $453...that's right, they paid me $2 to add the Honda. Finally, an insurance break!

Has anyone here ever had to initiate a claim with Geico? I've never known anyone who has used them, just curious.

I traded my '01 screw for the '02 HD. My insurance went down $4 every six months. I scratched my head on that one, although my insurance card says "'02 F-150'"...

when i had my T-bird the HD was classified as a second vehicle as well. They even gave me the 25 year old rate for the truck. If I remember correctly the 6 month premium on the car was slightly more than the truck and the car was 7 years older. Classic proof that auto insurance is a scam. Don't get me wrong I would never go without insurance, especially liability, but the way they calculate the premiums is unethical. This winter I might look for a POS to drive on really bad days and see if the insurance savings pays for the vehicle.

yeah, geico rates are low, but all i hear about them is when you get in a wreck, they will always deny the claim. sure you saved money, but how much is that worth to have to sue the company for your claim. for the best insurance agency, look online. they have peoples ratings of the companys, and geico was rated low. people were surprised at the low rate but at the first sign of them paying you money they bail.

I've had GEICO for 23 years.
I've paid them over $15,000 in premiums and never filed a claim.

Here is the deal, nobody can beat their rates, if you have a clean record. If you don't, they either won't take you or price you out. If you start out clean with them and go downhill, they will drop you.

The most important thing to remember is, you never want to get hit by someone with GEICO.

I've been hit twice by GEICO policyholders. When I found out the second time, the woman had GEICO I sat down and cried.

State Farm quoted me $440 for six months, and I like in a high risk state.

I use Geico insurance for the past 10 years. Never had an accident (my fault), I did claim one windshield cracked, and one accident (another car hit me). Both times, they took care of me, and I am very happy with their service. I owned a 2000 Gran Caravan and a 2002 Ford F-150 Super Cab, and my 6 month premium for both vehicles is $410.00.

BigIke,

I filed a claim with Gieco a few months ago when my 02 Liberty was stolen. Everyone I spoke with at Geico was responsive and professional. They settled my claim within 30 days with no hassles at all. Geico Rocks!

I have filed 4 claims with GEICO: '95 Formula (hit dalmation on freeway), '97 F150 Supercab (wife too close to bread truck), '99 Trans Am (wife backed into with '99 G.Cherokee), and '01 SCrew 4x4 (off-road incident - just scraped rocker panel). All claims were accepted and settled the same day (scheduled estimate and cut me a check - minus deductable - the same day). I have one chargeable ticket (100+ in 65mph) and the wife had 3 (two speeding and one running a hidden stop sign - she doesn't speed, but was in my bright red Formula and cop stereotyped the car) and our rates have never gone up. Our '01 SCrew runs us about $80/mo and the new '02 HD only $48/mo, both with the same coverages. The '01 gets the 4x4 premium and the HD doesn't show up as a high performance premium. GEICO's service center has online account info, has personnel answering claims/calls 24 hours per day, and rates are pretty low (if you have no points). I like them fairly well and have no desire to change based off my past experiences. Maybe they are more apt to pay mine since the GEICO parts of the repairs only averaged $800 per repair.

Harley#356,

I haven't gotten around to taking any pictures yet. Usually don't keep a car long enough to take pictures - 6 mos is about it. At 26, this is my 16th vehicle. Once someone else get a similar vehicle, we get rid of ours. Seen at least 10 of the '02 HD's in this area and about 20 kazillion SCrew's in general. Just got this to hold me over until the SL55 gets here...in about 2 years ! I can tell you this, mine looks like every other black '02 HD in SoCal . I don't drive the truck too much. I bought it for my wife. She enjoys the Ford trucks (the '01 Lariat is hers as well). We had originally thought about the Blackwood, but liked the HP and gas mileage of the HD better. We loved the power tonneau and are working on the HD conversion of the Blackwood's power lift.

We don't have a digital cam., so we'll have to get some 35mm scanned into the ole bit-box and uploaded into the gallery.

Former Marine...helped some of those Dot-Com startups a few years back...and now do a mix of Statistics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science. Basically, a lot of math and number crunching. Give companies exactly what they want and they will give you exactly what you want $$. Another thing, salaries are higher in SoCal due to the high cost of living (mostly housing), but cars cost the same all over the country.
