Unhappy Wheels and rims boosted!

Well, unfortunately it happed to me, somewhere between Sunday night and Monday morning. Walked out to my truck, parked off the street in my back yard, garage is at the back of the home, lo and behold my HD/F150 was sitting on blocks. Looked pitiful, kinda wish they had stolen the whole truck. They left the three HD/F150 emblems and there is not a scratch on the vehicle. All they wanted were the tires and rims.

Insurance company is giving me a hard time about what it is going to cost to replace (over 5.5K) the wheels and rims. Apparently the VIN does not identify the vehicle as an HD edition.

Doing real good about not getting too upset about all this, just don't like they came right into my back yard to take care of business.

I've purchased a guard dog and I'm considering a 40 S&W.

Sucks to hear that man...im sorry.

Id recommend a nice 12ga pump action. Very very LOUD and distinctive sound when chambering a round with one of those....which is usually enough to make the hair on the back of someones neck to stand up.

As for visual intimidation...a nice SKS with extended spear/bayonet and a 30rd clip is very high on "pucker factor"

Sadly..in florida you cannot shoot someone for trying to steal your tires...so at best you can only scare them away

Roostar, sorry to hear about your tragedy. i guess 1st thing you'll do when you get new rims is get WHEEL LOCKS! that was the 1st thing i did when i got my truck. got a gallery btw? did you take a pic of the poor truck sitting on blocks? Some people in this world, i'm tellin ya. that's a real shame. i hope all turns out well. o yeah your vin will tell ya its an HD. There's no obvious code for it, (for example this website vindecode won't tell you its an HD) but the insurance company has to have the right program that will tell you its a HD or something like that. if you go to the ford dealers and give them your vin, their computer should tell you that it's a HD with out you telling them. that's if their computer goes beyond saying its a f150. But yes there is hope, cuz the vin does identify it as a HD. GOOD LUCK

Get a sercurity guard.

I used to live in Miami and if your gonna get jacked thats the first place it will happen. I never got anything stolen from me though because i have a sercurity system that makes brinks look like puss*ies. My Homeland Sercurity. I recently moved to Daytona and havent had any problems either. Check out my new pics and youll see what im talkin about. I dont park in my garage because i have a train set that takes up half and the other half belongs to a female mate of mine (aka my otherhalf). I get the back yard. LUCKY ME HUH? I also got a Clifford alarm and rim locks. Call me paranoid but im from miami and ive seen alot of stripped cars and cars jacked up. Not pretty. The only thing that will get me is a carjacking. If they want it that bad they can have it. The trucks insured im not. Good luck with finding a new rim. Check ebay often. "Never doubt whats possible!"

snoopy- you got a HD? if so post a link to your gallery

yeah back in 95 when i bought my ford contour, it came with wheel locks. when i traded it in in 00 for the HD, i found out that the truck came withOUT wheel locks. i asked the dealer why and he said that nobody steals rims anymore. nobody steals rims my @$$!!!! 1st thing i did was order wheel locks. its worth the extra little insurance. i still can't figure out why a 17 thousand dollar car with 15" rims came with wheel locks, and a 33 thousand dollar truck with 20 inch chromed aluminum rims (not to mention being the 1st production truck with stock 20's) came without wheel locks. doesn't make much sense to me, especially since the rims and tires on the HD's cost almost a third! of what that car cost.

A scam you say?

Its a big conspiracy I say. Ford didnt make enough off of us on the trucks so they figure no wheel locks mean that rims get jacked and someone buys new rims from ford. HAHAHA. GET GORRILLA LOCKS!!!! ITS WORTH IT.

Insurance????????????

Biggest rip off in the world today.

Insurance agents are like WOMEN.........cuz you can't live without them, and you can't KILL them.

I say, get yourself a nice 175lb Rot and leave him in the back of your HD..........see who likes your wheels now.

Thumbs up

Well, when it is all said and done it's gonna cost me 9 C notes. I'm adding an alarm, rim locks. I've bought the dog, and he's in training as we correspond. I did take pics, you don't want to see black beauty sitting on blocks, one ugly photo, hurts your heart. HD is ready to be picked up, insurance has paid their part, and I’m on my way to pick up my HD.

I was thinking about an alarm as well. I don't like them but like HuskerF150 says "can't live with 'em and can't shoot the bastard that boosted your wheels or vandalized your truck".

Harley 356: Like you I was surprised when my 99 SVT Contour came with McGuards from Ford and the 00HD didn't given the huge diff in rim costs between the two. McGuards now on. And re the insurance thing--my company offers full replacement value on the truck at MRSP for the first two years--more than I paid but the VIN showed up properly as an HD and she already had the value. I was her second HD buyer in a couple of days. But the best part is my HD insurance is about 60% of the SVT's--it's in the country not the city so cost is lower. But I'm still paranoid that something is going to happen--I think its called bad luck when it does.
