New kid on the block
I have been reading these boards for a couple of months and just took delivery of a 2002 HD F150.
Moon roof, heated seats, 6 disc cd changer. Runs beautifully. As my user name shows, it was number 2159.

howdy gents!
i'm fortunate enough to have just picked up one of these beauties too! (a black '02). it's still stock except for some dealer options (moonroof, heated seats, heated seats, CD changer). i can't believe how sweet it is!!!
since this is my first blown engine, i have been wondering about the engine sound. i thought superchargers had a whine even at idle, but i don't hear anything from this baby until i get my foot into it. what gives? (not complainin' - just wonderin')
also, i was really disappointed to see there was no boost gage.
i was lookin under the hood, and it looks like there are vacuum lines on both sides of the blower; but when i plugged into the EEC and asked for manifold pressure, i got no response.
has anybody else fooled with that?
at any rate, i want to add one, and i guess i assumed i could just tap into a factory port with an aftermarket boost gage. how did you guys that added one do it?
also, where did you locate it. i was thinking of one of those pods that go on the driver side pillar, but there is an entry grip in the way. (go figure, does anyone use this?!?)
at any rate, this is my first post, and i look forward to chatting with you fellows.

Tennessee:
Supercharged engines only get the whine when you get the boost going by getting the revs up. There's no real boost created at idle. Once you get the air moving through it,.....blam. I have a Lightning, and you can really hear that baby scream like a banshee once it gets passed the vacuum stage, more than the HD. Quite nice actually.
If you flip through the posts, you'll find a fellow HD member that has attemted the boost gauge install. Look for the call name Outnumbered with a sweet a$$ pic of a '02 HD in the signature. But I've seen a lot of people complain about odd boost readings from aftermarket gauges.
P.S.-Welcomeaboard matey!

Thanks for the feedback. The reason I asked in the first place is that I have a friend who put an ATI procharger in an '86 Mustang.
You can hear his blower even at idle, and we're thinking the whine is due to the gear train, not the air flow. Since the gears have straight teeth, as opposed to helical, the gear noise is more pronounced. He's heard a powerdyne blower, which is a belt driven model with a single impeller (no gears) and it has no whine at any speed. It does have a whistle sound that increases with engine speed.
Assuming that's true, then my HD sounds like the blower does not actually engage until the engine is loaded. The thing we can't figure out is how they could be clutching the thing, because the pulley is always turning.
Anyhow, that's what we're thinking.
Thanks for the tip on outnumbered's boost gage post. (You're right, that is a sweet a$$ truck and and one of the best pic's I've seen.)

Tennessee,
Here is a picture of the nylon connector I was talking about. However, when your looking for it, you more than likely will not see white because it is covered by a small black boot. Hope this helps.
