Unhappy $#!+, a dent!!!!!

just lookin over the harley today, admirin how beautiful she is and i spotted a dent in the passenger side door. is about the size of a dime and is right below the door handle about 3 or 4 inches down. almost cried i've had my baby for over year and only got a few scratches from the a$$holes at the gas station puming gas. But today the dreaded had happed. someone hit my truck opening their door too far. i know it wasn't when i was driving it cuz for one, i never go shopping, and two when i park, i park way out in the boondocks. i was so PO'd. if i saw the guy that did this horrible crime, i would knock his damn head off, pull out a bat, smash up his POS, and then tear outta there so fast, it'd make his busted up face spin. Just what i'd do . But unfortunately the culprit got away with this sin and should be condemned to hell for this. I think the dent is too small to be pulled out, but too noticeable on the black paint to let go, especially since she's a show truck. i may end up going to the ford dealer and ask about having them fill it and repaint it. not too worried since they have the best autobody shop around, but still upset If anybody has any suggestions, post em, and sorry for such a long post but these kinda people **** me the hell off.

Smile dent removal

There are dent removal places in most cities these days that can remove dents without repainting, etc. Check the yellow pages of your phone book. That would be the first place to check if it were mine. The repaint will never be as good as it was from the factory if you have to go that route.

Good luck!

Well being that i've already had to get the whole door repainted at the forddealers due to a big defect on the bottom of the door, i'm not too worried about the quality of the paint job since they did such a beautiful job the first time. also for the dent removal places, how do they remove it, i think it would be too small to pull out with a suction puller thing, and it is right by the seam of the door about two inches in. just wondering.

Sorry to hear about the dent on your door, I know how that feels. It seems like the more your careful, things just tend to migrate towards it. I would recommend getting the dent pushed out from behind not pulled out. I've had 2 experiences with this, Once on my S500 where they pulled it out and they did a horrible job and you can see all the little suctions. It was on a silver car so it wasn't too bad until you looked at it up close. The other was on my Black Twin Turbo Supra. This was my show car. The dent was right on the rear quarter panel on a curve where it is really noticeable. I couldn't sleep or work for two days because I was so mad. Then I went to this guy who solely works on Ferrari's and he had these tools where he pushed it out from the inside panel. He had a fluorescent light to use as a reflection. Afterwards he used this special tool to also tapped it from the outside. After about 1 1/2 hour this quarter size dent was magically removed, not one imperfection at all, even under the reflection of a fluorescent light. I could not believe my eyes, ever since then I'm no longer afraid of door dings. Try this method first before repainting, as black will tend to show more orange peel and no wet sanding or high speed buffing will ever get rid of it. Good luck.

Thumbs down

I feel your pain!!!! After almost 2 years without dings I received my first ding in our Expedition. I witnessed the whole thing as I was walking towards the truck. It was my brother inlaw's little sister. To boot it was from a rented Chevy Trailblazer. Beware of the back doors of them, they are long & sharp!!!!!!I am lucky so far in the Harley, but I will probably have heart faluire when I do get a door ding.
