Hi there!
I paid 1875.00 for insurance for this year but it's because I haven't had insurance for about 10 years. I just kept my vehicles in hubbys name. Since I don't let him drive my truck I was forced to get my own insurance for a change.
Cindy.

My HD is considered a second vehicle so I get the over 25 rate and full coverage on the truck for 6 months is $254.70
This is with a 250/500 deductible. Its a kick in the teeth that my '93 T-bird is almost $100 more for the same 6 month period (at the under 25 rate).
BTW: Allstate with a local agent.

My HD truck insurance runs only about $165 for 6 months with 300,000/500,000 liability full medical and $1000 deductible on comp. It is one of 3 cars in the insurance package. My family has had no tickets or accidents in past 10 years. Iowa is one of the very lowest rate states for insurance, btw.
I am going to get that lowered even more though, as the HD truck is a "low mileage vehicle" being driven less than 4K a year and I believe I can get the rate another $75/yr or so lower yet!

These prices are $CND but my truck cost me $823/yr. It is a 2nd vehicle, registered and located in a rural area, drive it less than 10k km /yr, includes my brother as fully insured driver, and offers full replacement value for two years from date of purchase, and I'm over 50 with over 30 years of claim free.
For comparison, my '99 SVT Contour (primary drive)located in an urban area--Toronto--and valued at half the HD150, costs me $1280 Cnd--same as a regular four door Contour.
If you want to see illuminating insurance info--payouts for collision. compehensive, personal victim etc, logging into either the Can or US version of Insurance Bureau should allow you to see a chart bases on make and model. Regular F150's 2wd have lower percentages in all the above categories, hence lower rates than a'average'. 4wd trucks tend to crash a lot
