How can I get more for my trade in? Saleen SC HD

Tried to trade truck in today on a new fx4 and dealer only offered $16,000 for it. It's a 2007 with factory saleen sc, 50k miles. I bought it a year ago for $28,000 thinking I had a rare fund but nobody wants to put any value on the rarity of the truck. Every one I do find on the net is always priced about what I paid but this is the second time I've considered trading and the other time I was offered $20k. If I could get $24-25k I would trade but given I paid $28k and it's still showroom condition with low miles I simply cannot take that kind of hit. Has anyone got any trade tips that might help? Thanks all

Dealers buy at a lower price because they're going to sell anything they take as a trade in. If they give you a good trade in price, then it's being made up for on the new truck.

There was one guy on here who bought an HD Edition with a Saleen blower and the dealer didn't even know it was supercharged.

Your best bet is going to be selling the truck yourself and putting that money towards a new truck.

Good luck!

Trade in value on your truck is 21k if it's 2wd, 22k if it's AWD - without the blower and Saleen treatment. Your dealer plain old doesn't want it, probably can't see a way to quickly sell it and make any money on it.

I think a year ago, the 28k you paid was pretty close to retail - again, without the blower.

That dealer is trying to hose you. That truck should be valued in the mid 20s still.

What state are you in?

I just bought a FX4, I originally was going to trade my car in, NADA rough trade in was 9k on it, they offered 7k, so I considered trading my 2011 E150 wagon with 10k on the clock, they got up to 17.5 on it, NADA rough trade in was almost 20k, I can assure you that neither of my vehicles were rough, they just don't want to put the $$$$$ in them.

Sold my car to a neighbor for rough trade in money, he got a good deal, the dealer was upset I didn't trade it in............ go figure

Trying one other dealer and if I don't have any luck I will sell it on my own. I was willing to lose a couple grand but jeez they almost want you to give these things away for nothing.

Fill one of these out and see how much they give you. If theirs is still low, something's going on, but I think the value range will be more reasonable. You're going to take about a $3,500 hit selling it to a dealer, and you probably depreciated it around $2-3k depending on how much you drove it, so I think about $22k would be a reasonable trade in. $20k is too low, but at least on the same planet. $16k is just BS.

There is no book adjustment for the supercharger - and your book trade in is in the 21 to 22k range.

^ on that link, you can tell them what you have and they'll account for it. I think $23k is top dollar on that thing for trade-in.

Well, I was just given a credible offer from a dealer in TN. They offered $23,500 sight unseen. Bad part is I am likely jumping ship to get in a 2500 Ram with the 6.7 diesel. Still pondering my decision but thats the best trade in offer I have received.

You went from FX4 to a Dodge diesel? That offer was really good though!
