???? for all of you.

I currently have a 93 Lightning that I'm trying to sell to purchase a New 2000 HD. My question is how do you guy's like your's? Have any problems with them? And what kind of MPG should I expect? Also what would be a good price for a new 2000? It has the CD changer and sliding rear window, I'm not sure what the options list is on these trucks but if there's others I'd like to know. And what's the deal with the bed cover? I've read that you had to wait to get it?(what's the deal). I know this one has the HD bed mat in it, does that mean I won't be getting a cover? Thanks, John

Thumbs up Love the truck!

Definitely love this truck. I had a '97 XLT with only 8K miles on it that was traded in to get the HD truck. It turns heads everywhere you go and is a lot of fun to drive. The quality of mine is excellent. It has never gone back in for any warranty work.

Gas mileage with the K&N FIPK, tonneau cover (which really does help with mileage) and the Superchip is about 19 MPG around NW Iowa where I'm not driving in a city and generally averaging about 63 mph on the roads. Most people, not in a rural area or going on the interstates more frequently, will, obviously, get lower mileage.

The only options available were the 6 changer CD, sliding window and the block heater. Sounds like you have about everything you need for where you live!

Not sure if you'll get the tonneau or not at this point, but I'd be surprised if you didn't. You should work that out with the dealer before buying. Maybe he could discount it if the tonneau is no longer going to be supplied? Oh yeah, the bedmat comes with the truck -- it has nothing to do with the tonneau cover.

You will love it. It's been nothing but a sweet ride for me. It's also a head turner for sure. Basically everytime I look over at the person beside me there checking it out. You won't regreat getting on if you do decide to.

Love my 01. I like the fact I could get the sunroof in mine. Are you getting an 00 hold over or something? Still, get it. Hard to keep looking good with the black and all but you got to love it when people almost break their necks when the pass you trying to get that one last look. Only problems with mine, water leak because someone on the mfg line did not attach the drain tube to the sunroof, and the harley badge on the seat came off. Both repairs are very minor and didn't take long to fix.

Thumbs up

I love my '01 Harley. You have a truck now, so you're familiar with truck issues. Over bumps and rough pavements, it rides like a truck because, well, it is a truck. But on a decent pavement, it rides as well as most luxury sedans.

Now the looks you'll get... I was pulled over twice so the cops could take a look at my truck. It kinda ticked me off, and if you're a civil libertarian, don't get this truck. I get thumbs up, smiles, and waves all the time, and valets almost always comment on my truck, even at a fairly swanky places where they park Porsches, Mercedes, and other luxury vehicles.

As for gas mileage, I get around 13 to 14 MPG, combined city and highway driving. I have had as high as 17 MPG highway, and that's with about 80 MPH average. On the flip side, I have had as low as 11 MPG city, lugging 4 people plus some gear.

I plan on keeping my truck for at least 2 years, and hope to trade it in for the rumored supercharged '03 F150 Harley. So you can consider me a truck man, specifically a Harley truck man, for the forseeable future.
